nikon D700 from Malaysia

If you guys want to know the price of camera stuffs in MY, go to this website (http://www.shashinki.com/shop/) The prices are about 5-10% higher than cash price you pay from the cheapest shops in KL.

I have bought from them before. Very reliable and service is good.

what are the cheapest shops in KL??.. prices comparable with JB shops??... thanks!...

Looks like a good place to buy. Best for those who want door to door delivery instead of having to travel there to look for a store.

at KL, you can try this two shops, selangor photo (pertama complex building beside sogo) and ylcamera (pudu plaza ylcamera.com.my).. if u go bukit bintang area that one price not so good.. chop chop one r the price..

Buy from this website will incur GST when delivered to Singapore?

Hi

If we buy in Malaysia using CC and the bill come up to RM$6300. Using the Asiaone currency converter, it equates to SGD$2636.

How much more do you all reckon that the CC companies will charge on top of SGD$2636 ? (after their own currency conversion)

RM6,050 for D700 quoted from Foto CLS at JB, Malaysia. But they have no stock at the moment ;)
If bought during the weak Ringgit period(1SGD = RM2.41), it only costs you SGD2,510

Latest price check from JB. Mee too in angsana is RM$6200 + extra original battery, no battery and D700 body only is $6100.

Foto Berlian is selling body only at RM$5980, I got my set from foto berlian.

Damn cheap...can buy from Malaysia and sell it at profit in Singapore already :bsmilie:

Just FYI, if you buy it from Malaysia, there is also a high chance that you will be charged GST when you come back by the Singapore customs.

When I drove back, the customs are very active and thorough in searching for purchases in the car. But I was lucky, somehow they missed the camera.

Never encounter such thing. Have bought two lenses from JB(RM4700 + RM4900) few weeks ago. I went there by bus, all my things were scanned through in the custom but nothing happened.

do u have to take out the lens from its box and fold the box or just as it is?

1st time it was in the original box and 2nd time I took out and put together with my other gears in a camera bag.

Something I'm quite curious and not sure actually. Is there any different buying camera gears from Malaysia and Hongkong? I know many people buy camera gear at much cheaper price from HongKong. But are they charged GST at the airport when they come back to Singapore? If not, then there shouldn't be any GST charged when we go and buy the gears from Malaysia.
I know there is GST charged when we buy online and receive the gears via post.

Apart form price and GST, Nikon cameras bought from overseas do not have any warranty here. Warranty is only applicable in the country of origin.

Hence if you buy from Malaysia, you can only claim warranty from KL within the warranty period.

Hi, thanks for your advice.
Yup, I was informed about this before. That's why I only buy Nikon lenses from Malaysia which have international warranty and yet much cheaper than Singapore. For camera body, I may consider if the price difference is huge because I always travel to KL, where the Nikon Service Centre is located.
Would you be able to advice whether there is any GST charged at the airport when buying from Hongkong?

"All goods imported into Singapore are subjected to GST.

TIPS: If you have arrived from Malaysia, you will
not be granted any duty-free liquor concession.
If you are a bona fide traveller who is not a holder
of a work permit, employment pass, student pass,
dependent pass or long-term pass, you will be given
GST relief on new articles, souvenirs, gifts and food
preparations (excluding intoxicating liquors and
tobacco) up to the following value shown in the
table "
