Nikon D70 failed and continuous blinking of CF light

My friend did ask for waiver, but was told that the manager was not around and they have to charge...I have told him to go back and demand a refund, we'll see what happen...

I collected mine and all the while nikon service centre told me it's FOC, without any need for waiver or anything. Maybe the repair is not just for the blinking light problem or it may be user-related?

now my cf indicator keeps blinking when off, when turn on it's ok.. took some shots, it's ok. Anyone experienced this before?
Now I take out the battery already before the blinking light drain my batt away :X

Was your camera under warranty? I send my own camera while under warranty, and had no problem having it done FOC, the issue here is when the camera breaks down a couple of months after the warranty is expired.

May be you are not ready to own a D70s yet.

Was your camera under warranty? I send my own camera while under warranty, and had no problem having it done FOC, the issue here is when the camera breaks down a couple of months after the warranty is expired.

May be could print out this thread and show it to Nikon.

Hi everyone, I got mine July 2004. Developed problem last weekend and sent it today. Was told by (same?) counter girl it "should be" free. Will find out :dunno:

same here. phone recep said that its 'extended' for another 3 mths... ie warranty extended for another 3 mths. purchased in early april 04

FYI.
got no stock for replacement parts, so you've gotta wait for 4 weeks for stock to arrive.
just sent mine down for repairs today.

Sounds scary....at the rate things are going, got a trip to NY in September and I've been shooting almost 1gb per day....for a couple of weeks now...hard to decide whether to plunge in further for another body as a backup....but if so, will definitely play safe and add on extended warranty.

I wonder what is the percentage of D70 models that experienced this? Mine had the "Err" message briefly just weeks ago. So far so good. Hope its not going toward this direction getting the "Green Lantern"!

i sent my camera in 2 weeks back to align the CCD as well as to reported occasional card reading failure. Got my camera back on Wed, they claim nothing wrong with the memory card thing... went for shoot this morning, ok. Now while preparing for shoot later, kanna sai, the blinking light problem appears...siao liao la, gotta go nikon service center again. camera out of warranty alreadi ... :cry:

seems like busy period for Nikon Service Centre.... supposed it'll be prudential to have a backup if you're covering an important assignment.

according to the lady,they didn't address the blinking light problem.. just merely changed the pcb and multi sel. switch or something. Funny.. either the first time I went there the front guy didn't write in properly or the technician just changed it (for d70s 'common' failure). I guess my problem is a little different sice my d70 only keeps blinking green light only when it is off. No problem operating the cam whatsoever and can shoot alright...

my time should be coming soon. took a couple of test shots at an event yesterday. then suddenly tell me card not formatted, test shots all lost. after reformat eveyrhting ok. until shoot half way then suddenly [For] suddenly popped up. scared sh!tless. luckily in the end all came out ok.

bring in to Nikon centre for servicing. since, it's quite a prevalent problem and there are some who got the free repair after warranty expired, you probably would get it too.

arg...sent in in april...got it fixed...now got similiar problem...unlike last time...can still on the camera...not total black out...think must pay the service centre a visit tml morning.
