probably have to send back to HK to repair. no harm asking Nikon Singapore though.

mine just took a crap after 10k plus shots and 13 months of service. to those with serial numbers between 300XXXX and 307XXX (mine's from US, not sure if serial numbers in SG are the same. but i suppose its roughly equivalent to cameras that are bought new about a year ago) and this has not happened to you yet, good luck guys.

Has not happened. Think nikon sg did some preventive measures when I last send in for service and upgrade. Good job nikon sg!!!

Mine is still ok bought in May 2004.

Another victim has emerged. ME  Happened after uprgraded to firmware 2. Sian

F**K.... My D70 also died on me... seems like this is such a bug issue... Maybe we shd protest!!

I still need the camera to shoot for STF tomorrow!! damn suay....

Just got back my D70 from NSC today. The technician told me over that phone that day that upgrading Firmware using a battery-powered D70 is risky as the voltage of the batt is not consistent - should plug the cam directly to power plug instead. All D70 users should have been informed about this.

i upgraded my firmware using the battery, not AC supply.

Ok leh :dunno:

The proper practice is to upgrade via the power supply which is going to cost $ as it's optional.

I also upgraded via a full EN-EL3 on my D70. Works perfectly. Infact, did it a few times already.

My camera is down with the same problem. Had sent my D70 to Nikon Malaysia on 09-06-2005. They said it will be ready in two weeks :(

wow, 25% failure rate for the D70. hope Nikon is one up on the new D70s.

just a thought, can I send my D70 for the hardware fix though problem not surface yet? Don't want history repeat like other CSers' cam fails at very important moment :dunno:

I think most of those that fail are the 1st batch... those bought before April 2004. After that, seems like most set no prob.... coincidently, it spoilt after 1 year warranty period...

My friends D70 bought in Apr 04 just conked out....quoted 298 b4 GST for repair by Nikon Sg.

I think you should. At least send in for servicing during last month before warranty expires.
