I've been trying to play with long exposure. Does anyone know if 30 sec is the longest exposure time for D5000?

nope. u can go beyond that.

this is how u do it:
1) set to 'M' mode
2) set the exposure by turning the command dial, n turn beyond 30 secs.
3) the screen will show "Bulb", so to shoot using "Bulb" setting, u haf to hold onto the shutter button if u want the exposure to be beyond 30secs.

u can refer to pages 86-87 on ur manual for a more detailed explanation.

HTH :)

Hi I am D5000 user.. currently using 18-55 Lense only.
but would like to get a lense which will reach 200mm
Should i get tamron 18-200mm or Nikkor 55-200mm?

if get tamron, i do not need to switch lense when taking near object but i also dun mind e trouble to change e lense for taking far object..

Any advise? thanks

If you want the reach and less hassle in changing lens, and you got the budget I suggest the Nikkor 18-200...or the Sigma 18-250 or Tamron 18-270...but your 18-55 kit lens would be obselete.

If you don't mind changing lens, then Nikkor 55-200 should be good enough...or better yet, get the Nikkor 55-300 lens...

IMO, the 18-55 and 55-200 combo will offer better IQ. however, for the sake of convenience (and maybe weight), i will rather go for an all-in-one zoom lens, which in ur case, the tamron 18-200mm.

Depend u getting a 2nd hand ($200 to $300) or 1st hand ($300plus to $400plus).
You can search in CS and check out with shops.

hi all, for those who bought the book "From Snapshots to Great shots", were u able to download "free" last two chapters from Safari?
How come I need to pay to be member first (Secure the points), before I can download the chapters?

Thanks in advance to any advice.
