hi all, for those who bought the book "From Snapshots to Great shots", were u able to download "free" last two chapters from Safari?
How come I need to pay to be member first (Secure the points), before I can download the chapters?

.. thought it is supposed to be free..
Thanks in advance to any advice.

I got the book but did not bother to download the "free" chapters...
if its really free...I can just go to any bookshop and copy down the "code" ...dun even need to buy the book to get those "free" chapters..thats why I figure its not really free lor...

Thanks a lot.. I will be starting from scratch.

Wish to be able to take good pictures next time.

hi guys bought the d5k last sept n still satisfied. Other than the low light focusing issues overall perforamnce is splendid. For low light situation i'd opt for the 35mm f1.8. Am thinking of a zoom lens to replace the 18-55mm but still thinking of a way to utilize the 55-200mm thou. Btw i bought kit 2 so i had 2 lens. :)

d5000 user here, bought it due to its value for money at a recent comex. love many features such as the swivel screen.
But for those deciding between the d90 and d5000: the d90 has more knobs and buttons which make changing of aperture, shutter speed, exposure and iso much faster in manual mode. for the D5000 you are limited to only 3 variables. however i am quite okay with the trade off because of its price.

my BIGGEST problem is its inability to trigger off board flashes by infrared i.e. the on-board flash HAS to fire before any other flashes can by fired. so in order to overcome this,i'll have to spend extra to get a su800 or a sb900 to trigger an external flashes. a d90 user would be able to settle for a sb600 if his budget is tight.

also the lack of an inbuilt motor limits the lenses available to me. of course i can always focus manually, but i would take that into consideration when looking at the cost of a lens.

so in the end, does the price of the d90 and d5000 balance out? if you decided to stop at just the camera and kit lens, the d5000 would be the best investment. otherwise, a d90 would be better than in the long term IMO.

PS i get the feeling the canon equipment is cheaper=(

hey guys.. is 17-55 can focus on D5000? looking at the 17-55 spec but i cant find wether the lens have built in motor or not..

The Nikon AFS 17-55mm F/2.8 DX? YES, it has a Silent wave motor in the lens, so it can AF on the D5k.
