Definately no way to change the LCD screen to a higher resolution, the only way is to upgrade your camera.

I am enjoying my D5000 & making use of it at least once a week. The only setback I feel is the low resolution LCD screen. Wonder if there are any ways to upgrade or change the LCD to a higher resolution one.
Any ideas ? ;)

Get an Eye-fi sdcard, paired it to a Samsung Galaxy Tab or your phone, voila a higher resolution screen to view your pics...

hi there...thanks for the advise...have went down to NSC.. they have found that the in-built flash is not working. but due to the fact that my set was brought overseas therefore NSC will not be doing for me. as the body is not covered under international warrenty...but as i quite frequent to japan, so they suggested to me to buy a external flash instead..cos to service the built-in flash...cost about $137.00 and an external flash ( compatible 3rd-party) cost about $140-$180..so i bought a flash instead...at harvey norman...sunblitz brand...cost me $167...btw, GUYs, if you guys wana buy any of nikon items from japan, let me know..cos in japan some of the 2nd hand items is lesser alot then in SG..whats more...they only like use 3months or so...or if u guys wana brand new...can also..the price there is cheaper alot ...cheers...

i suggest u shld find out ur preferred shooting habits first. for eg, do u use tele often?

be informed that the price tag of 18-200mm is alot more compared to 18-135 n 18-105.

Hi liaoyuean,
In Japan, where do you look for cheaper nikon items? It can be 2nd hand or from shops where they are selling at street prices, rather than at RRP.
Thanks!

Hi Irvine...thanks! For now I do not know the difference bet 105,135 and 200 in terms of distance capabilities. Tele could be seldom use. I just want a lens that won't allow me to keep changing/switching. Is 105 and 135 good enough...say on concerts 50-100m away?
Thanks again

You can also consider other 3rd party all-in-ones such as Sigma/Tamron 18-250, 18-200 or Tamron 18-270, which can cover wide to tele... and are cheaper than Nikkor's version...

no problem. :)

for concerts that far away, i feel that the 18-200 is a better option. if u wan cheaper options, u may try 3rd party options that scholesville haf mentioned.

Guys appreciate all your input, it helps a lot on my decision. I will canvass for a third party. Thanks!

Hi, have anyone of you use the phottix cleon II remote control (N10) for D5000? I was thinking, if I am using a tripod and want real steady photo, maybe I should consider a remote too.

Hey, maybe u wan to consider Nikon wireless remote ML-L3 cost $18. ;)

i rented a 18-105mm lens months ago.. i find that the lens is very heavy than my camera body..

the result were inconsistance, some shots were beautiful.. some were not.

i would suggest u to rent the lens and try it out urself before deciding which to buy..:)

Make sure the lens you buy has a built-in-motor. Else, it won't autofocus on the D5000. You might also want to look out for VC/OSthe VR equivalents.

Hi, I have a few questions relating to D5000, hope you guys can help.

1) I set my dial to M and manually set the A and S. Before I could press the shutter, the screen states too dark. When I try to shoot, it did not work. There are also occasions the shutter just don't work till I adjust the setting. Is this normal?

2) D5000 has not ISO 100, lowest is 200. How to bring it lower or this is the min setting?

3) My filter seem to be very tight and I want to remove it for cleaning. What should I do so as not to damage the lens?

Regards

1) were u using AF mode? if u did, did it manage to lock its focus first?

2) the "natural" or default sensor rating of d5000 is 200-3200. iso ranges between 200 to 100 (Lo1) and 3200 to 6400 (Hi1) are the boosted iso ranges. it's different from the actual iso since it's boosted beyond wad the original sensor can "naturally" handle with some sort of electronic trickery. to put it simply, the sensor is more sensitive to light at base iso than sensors rated at iso 100 as base iso.

Irvine, thanks for your reply, I guess I have it at AF. Will monitor and give more detail info if it happen again. I am not too sure about your answer for ISO but I guess ISO 200 should be ok for now.

Anyone of you bought any 3rd party Macro lens? Any recommendation for cheap and good stuff? I should say reasonable good stuff ;p
