I read somewhere some senior guys recommend to shoot in color & then convert it later.as for me i shoot straight in monochrome rather than convert later... think its a matter of preference... hope this helps, cant get into technical details, scared later too many BS... :bsmilie:

I find the black/white photo straight out of the camera looks flat, not solid.

I'm totally amazed by how well the D5000 renders jpeg. At the moment, I can't even use RAW because I can't make the pictures any better than the jpeg rendered with Lightroom :cry:

Hi guys, whats the brightness you set for your D5000 screen? Cause i set it as -2. What is the most accurate brightness setting for D5000 screen?
So far I find -2 for D40, D40X, D60, D80, D90, D200, D300, D2X and D3 looks right, so I guess -2 on D5000 sounds right as well. Just look at the grey bars and -2 seems to give the most uniform.
