I simply love this camera for its user friendliness. Colour and sharpness of pics out of camera is solid. I don't even need to read the user manual even though I am just a newbie.

Hi Nikon D50 users,

I decided to close this thread at 9pm. Because i saw few Nikon D50 users.

Really that few ma?

I am still using a D50 (bought in 06) with a 18-200VR.

Haven really considered upgrading as of yet.

It's a pity if this thread dies. Hopefully the camera does not die along with it...:)

I think this thread to stay better.

If any problem, We may help you a resolve problem.

Frankly speaking, I see no reason to upgrade to another Nikon DX format camera.

I considered D90 b4. But i am also considering a FX camera.

But at the same time can't really bear to put down my D50 for good. Other than not being new and having a lower pixel count, it can produce grt results.

Maybe when i really really really tempted then i will upgrade. I see lotsa ppl recommend it to be a IR camera as well.

I own a D40 but tempted to get D50... can someone please enlighten me if i should do so? Main reason is because of the AF function in D50 body.. plus it's size is also similar.. I wonder if it's worth the change?

I think you should be looking at a D90 instead.

would love to but D90 is out of my budget at the moment + my CFO wouldn't approve anyway. Getting cheaper alternative would be wiser choice...

if that's ur main reason for the change, i think its worth it. 2nd hand D40 and 2nd hand D50 prices are quite close. if all the lenses u have or plan to have is AF-S, then i think its not worth the effort.

D50 work for me.
4yrs le.
did many many shows with it, may it be Miss U or Miss Earth n ETC like mall shows n ETC ETC.
Still using D50 as my main camera as i step down from the potographer line.
have to say, when i m still in the business last time, i m the only one holding a D50, n all the rest of the official photographers will give me a funny look, but after they see my work, they have nothing to say.

now my D50 sleep in the dry box with my fav len, Tamron AF 28-200mm

So ya, i m a true D50 unser, n my set is still going strong

That's nice to hear. It proves that the man behind the camera matters more than the camera.

yes...more often than not it is the person behind the equipment that matters.

I have seen a flickr site with beautiful photos taken by people using a simple hp camera. Puts many holding a DSLR to shame...
