Haha, if you think D50 with 17-50 is heavy, try D50 with 17-55!

But back to topic, for lightweight setup, you're better off with the kit lens. I'd normally take my D50 with 24mm F/2.8 for a lightweight setup.

The D5k have different features, like swivel LCD, and lack of AF-drive screw. You'll need to top-up in terms of pricing too.

The D50 with Nikkor 17-55mm is a superb combination. Another intriguing combination is the D50 with Tokina 11-16mm. Overall, this is an inexpensive and easy to use camera that is capable of producing great results.

Hi guys, for D50, what type of lenses to get? as in AF-S, AF-D or mostly will fit?

All Nikon F-mount lenses will fit. :)

That's one plus point of the D50, ability to take non-Ai lenses! But no metering on non-AI nor AI/AIS lenses.

D200 and above cannot mount non-AI lenses, please note. They have to be converted to AI/AIS for use. However these bodies can metering in all modes.

Had it for 4 years now. My first DSLR. Still using my original kit lens. Will want to get a prime lens as my next upgrade but hardly any incentive to upgrade the body for the time being. It meet my requirements fully.

Some night scenes taken on my D50 and kit lens.

Yeah, the Reflex Nikkor 500mm F/8. ;p

Looks really good! I think it might beat my Celestron 5" scope which is a 1250mm f/10 equivalent. It already won in terms of portability. Ha!

Oh well, what I've got is 1200mm F/13 equiv. With the lightweight D50, I could handhold the combination, just push the tripod collar against the window frame to stabilise. :)

Would love to stack another TC if I have.

Oh, there is a thread on 35/1.8DX, right above or below this thread; and his reply said "another one from 35/1.8 DX"

Guess it's applicable to both threads. :bsmilie:

Dun think so.. The EXIF shows it's shot with D50.
