one thing i fail to understand is that how come MS Color is out of stock for the same models and its also not availabe readily in HN or J316 but CP-F has stock!!

Why so much discrepency in the availability?

DeepS

I am wondering the same thing. MS Color told me they have been out of stock for 2weeks, HN has no stock anywhere for some time as well. (D90 with 18-105)

Max photo told me they get 2 units each time they order. Both Centrepoint and AMK seem to have regular replenishment of their stock. Very strange indeed.

i believe that there is no such thing as fair and equal

I believe when new stock frm MS Colour comes in, they are being reserved by ppl on the list.

Maybe its true, each stall only have a certain number of units.

There are many things to regret throughout our life.....we don't have to always justify it in monetary term.....lost opportunity is something that money can't buy

Sounds like credit card ads :sweatsm:

I agree with this, I have being putting off buying a DSLR for the longest time and has been shooting my 11 months old daughter with a PNS (nothing wrong with that though). wait and wait and before I know it, she is learning to walk already.

Read many posts here about people finding it hard to keep up with their little ones with PNS so I just went for it and purchased a D5000 last week.

But having said that, just make sure the purchase did not break your bank though. If you let that happen, other opportunity cost will be higher.

Rumors of a coming price reduction is now making some people sad.
Half a yr ago, when there was a price increase, it made some people angry.

Actually, people are very selfish!
After you bought the product, you wished (secretly or openly) the price to go up.
After you sold the product or is making a purchase soon, you openly wished the price to go down.

In stock broking, this is called "looking for a bigger fool" theory. When you want to buy, because you think and wished that the share price will go up, you will look for someone to sell to you at a low price. And the seller will look for someone to dump their shares to because the seller thinks and wished that the price will be coming down. So, it can be briefly summed up as "buyer looking for a fool to sell it and the seller will be looking for a fool to buy it." After the transaction, the buyer and seller will be wishing that their respective thinking and action is correct.

Marketing 101 students knows this human weakness/selfishness very well.

According to Thom Hogan, Nikon is very close to launching a couple of new models... just a guess that that could be one reason why some models might be in short supply.

HAha... looking at how some of the folks in BnS are always trying to pull a fast one on newbies.. i say, its not surprising that most of the 'sad' chaps are the ones who are intending to sell their gears? :)

Regards

In fact, the longer and more they repost and repeat, the more it suggests there's something wrong with the deal.

Real good deals seldom last few hours, if something had been on sale for the past few weeks or months, hehehe. :)

Yeah.. there are quite a few that asks for ridiculously high price for a >1yr used lens/body without warranty.. some even near the new price!

Anyway, just buy if you need it, and if you can wait, then wait lor.

they are the people who do not understand the concept of "depreciation".

but in any case, no matter if you are getting things first hand or second hand, you should check around for the market prices in the corresponding markets first, before making any purchases... that is the only right thing to do, to avoid getting ripped off.

ok i am getting OOT. getting back, if you are going to need the lens, den get it. otherwise, dun get it. no need to worry too much about prices going up or down.

The cold hard turth is -
1. many Jap companies had mountains of inventory that filled up their global distribution centres from Shanghai to L.A. But there are no buyers as jobless rate are still heading north.

2. There are some lucky bros & sisters had their good luck in the March - June stock rally, very cash rich, ready to lavish themselves with some gifts - a FX DSLR and 24-70mm maybe.

So what u need is just a little bit of publicity to push-start the buying cycle between the ready sellers (Nikon) & cash-rich ready buyers.

wonder if the price for the 18-105 will drop to a nitty $1.5 after the price reduction. still have spare cash can buy to buy xtra set of lens ;p
