Hi all,

Coming back to the question posed by me earlier on grey set in lenses where I am adviced that grey set are original nikkor lenses but are not meant for singapore market and so in case of defects the guarantee is not covered by Nikon singapore service centre.

Now i went to Nikon singapore website and it says that for certain things there is local warranty and for certain items it is international warranty. Nikor lenses are mentioned in section ''International warranty''.

See the link ....http://www.nikon.com.sg/warranty.php

Now my question is Nikkor lenses having international warranty and so the local warranty thing does not come in picture.

Secondly if local warranty matters, than what is the check that it is local warranty..is it mentioned on warranty card...does nikkor lenses warranty card mentions worldwide local warranty card.

TTSH u need.

Maybe the 80-200mm f2.8 can stop the poison temporarily. But, my worry is that pics will turm out blur without VR. Lens plus camera plus battery grip weigh more than 3kg.

then take note of your shutter speed. i have shot handheld with a 70-200 (i have VR turned off, i dun like to use it) and my shots are rarely blur. if you have shutter speed at 1/200 or more, its quite hard to get motion blur, unless you are vibrating like a vibrator. den maybe you need a tripod.

i only find VR useful when i am shooting 1/15 second shots at 200mm. otherwise, its always off. VR aint that great, when you have the correct shooting and holding postures and techniques.

Well said. But, why do you switch off VR when you have paid for it? :dunno:

i find that the VR will retard me after i get off 1 shot, and move around to look for another shot.

i am worried that this constant panning and moving while hunting for shots will spoil it. hence i turn it off. i got pretty bad experiences with VR failure, and i am not going to try my luck with this piece of glass.

and i also figured that since i always shoot at 1/150 or more, i very rarely get motion blur. hence it stays off too.

in short, i dun know how to use VR. i am probably going to figure out how to use it, in the coming days, but its not a hurry, since i can still get off 1/30 shots without motion blur most of the time.

back to the topic, i will only lay my hands on the VR II, only if the sharpness is way better then my current one. which i am going to test it out coming friday. =)

by the way, did nikon change their warranty card from the popular yellow color to a piece of white card only?

If Sim Lim Sq shops quote below 3k inc gst, will you buy from them?

I read read read but don't quite understand leh. You mean 200mm is not 200mm????

Ohhh... nice cat. For now, VRI version should suffice for me. :)

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know such problem exsist.

Self induced or created problems just to nitpick when too free. In a land where they think the world revolves around them and with a number of ppl there believing that Singapore is part of China. I seldom take too much of what they nitpick. :bsmilie:

Hi!
Long time no post...
I was set to go down SLS to buy this baby during lunch but have read those dpreview outcrys this morning. Man...some of the forum peeps went completely bonkers but I still bought it anyways since I waited THAT long for the 70-200 update since december 2007.
Love the weight and feel...now I just have to wait another hour to go home and connect to my cam to try out.

Good stuff!

Hi PE, I don't understand what you meant. But I am just surprise that although both lenses are of the same focal length, however the actual view of the focal length can be different :dunno:

What I am saying is - give it to the Americans, they can just nitpick and create an issue with everything. And think they are the smartest around in the world.

Another example "no weapon of mass destruction in Iraq, also die die say have. And just invade" see the mess they created in this world.

Hence I always take what they say with a big spoon of salt, including comments on photographic stuff.

Ok enough of OT I shall say no more.
