nikon 28mm f1.8

Honest to said this lens i'm getting is more worth than what i paid :)
yup, seems like a fine lens. at the price too.

i wonder how the sigma 28 f1.8 performs.

personally, i would prefer the sigma as its AF is not dependent on some motor.

but, that's just me.

i probably will get the sigma 24 f1.8 instead.

Actually is just depend you like on order coating design or latest nikon in rich color,
for me i will try all the G Lenses, cause my previous own it just the AF/D Lens i can afford and getting more worst on CA & Vignetting.
Cause the SWM can be gave my video shots as well and accurate all the way.

yes, all the best.

its goin O.T.

let us revert back to the topic.

here's a quick sample taken with studio light @ F4.0. focused 10cm away from the front of the lens. near impossible to achieve this perspective with a 50mm...

That 50mm minimum focusing at 45cm,
So the only you can't shot as close up with bokeh background.

he ain't no thom hogan nor bjorn but more closer to kenrockwell.

i think give him some credit la since he seems genuinely out to poison us with the buybuybuy. kekekekeke

i would probably say, 'nice effort! hope to see more in the future.'.

give the man a tiger la!

Hahaha ok
Just that with all the superlatives being used to describe the lens, I was expecting to be blown away by the images. Besides the DOF being quite thin at that angle of view (a clue that it's a fast lens), I was hard pressed to see that this is a premium lens, even with the shots taken on D800.
But could be due to a variety of reasons, from image-host's compression algorithms, etc...

The enthusiasm certainly is infectious though ;)

yes, must give him credit for that. kekekeke

its not that really expensive a lens la. so, the performance, i would think, is on par with the price or even exceed the expectations.

in fact, the recent 1.8G lenses released by Nikon has been very impressive. :)

Latest new and updated info of someone comparison of those 24mm vs 28mm G.

http://www.photomalaysia.com/forums...Bokeh-on-Nikon-28G-Nikon-24G-amp-Canon-24L-II

Hope can help you decide which one to go..

The DOF is definitely acceptable.. But the angle of view is not.. I still need the 24mm unless they have a F/1.8...

Can you tell apart a 24mm vs 28 mm pic?

I think at same an not much ppl will do the comparison, once they have the 24mm G and won't look on the 28mm G anymore..

same like entry level and compare to pro level??

If you can notice a difference in your 16mm versus 19mm (around) on a cropped body, you will know what I mean.

attempted to find some reviews on the sigma primes 18/20/24/28 1.8 but couldn't find much. the ones that were out there merely mentioned that the IQ is not acceptable at all on full frame at all apertures. And also the AF is unreliable and noisy. hope this nikkor works much better.

hmmm... I find my Sigma 24 extremely acceptable...

sample shot I took with the Siggy 24... sharp, accurate, silky smooth bokeh, with no signs of CA whatsoever... And it costs much lesser too... which is also why I am not impressed with the new Nikon 28/1.8.
