And a sample shot for you...

Ya sigma had doing better CAs control.
Don't worried that is not a problem.
Since my photos can be better perform and not 100% and got 90% as sharp I'm very satisfied already.

Mine is a Sigma. And it performs very well with a lot less CA than what I am seeing in all the pictures from the nikon 28.1.8. And it is cheaper than the Nikon 28/1.8. And looks just as sharp too.

Nice. Definitely Worth the purchase.

The reason why I will avoid 3Rd party lenses is because it's usually not fully compatible. I used a 85 1.4 sigma on d700 with sb800. The exposure with ttl flash is constantly inaccurate on the sigma but accurate on nikkors.

The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 worked fine with my Nikon D300s and SB-900. No metering or TTL inaccuracy issues.

Sigma also depend the QC,
Last time when to the shop and look at the Sigma 17-70 OS but out of focus,
End up just grab the Tamron 17-50 VC has much much accurate.

Actually IMO as long as the lens perform to the satisfaction of the user/ buyer.. third party or original camera manufacturer is inmaterial.

The Sigma 24 f.18 looks good... care to share the 1:1 close up view?

Ya... it is not a true 1:1 macro... Quite impossible really, especially since it is so wide on a FF.

But close focusing is amazing.. so close till the lens hood touches the subject... still can acquire focus...

will post some samples later in the day when I get some time...

In the meantime, you can check out close focusing photos posted by another CSer here... http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/sigm...-f-1-8-24-f-1-8-28-f-1-8-a-2.html#post6738342

No point to compare like 24mm f1.4G vs 70-200mm VR2 price and weight also different range.

FWIW, here's another 28mm lens shot wide open at f2 (Zeiss ZF 28/2). Less CA issues, i think.
