nikon 28mm f1.8

Did you found just bring with alone this lens an can keep your macro lens at bome already..
Even 24-70 f2.8g for close-up focusing still got limit.

Ahh no way! Haha, if it gives me at least 1:2 on the 28mm I will be glad to put my 40mm on sale. It is pretty near for this lens, but still lacks the macro-ish feel...

Found this lens is quite useful on architectural gallery.

Can't conclusively say that this lens is on for architectural works. Depends on how much working space you've got. I actually think its a tad too tight for outdoor architectural works as evident in your photos.

But you can referring my passed fews photos is quite close to macro mode.

Ha ha.. So for just one lens enough to cover on 28FX, x1.2=34 & 42mm DX cropped mode in D800... Awesome lens..

For me is good enough and won't given too much distortion feels..

Yes, quite nice for close up.. haha... Great. Now this renders my 40mm useless, but wait till i get to the field to do macro work. haha

Try filling only the word candylicious within your frame. That's why you don't retire your macro lens even when you have a 28mm F/1.8.

The low MFD that wide angle lenses have are for other purposes.

Yea I definitely won't retire a micro lens. That is the primary reason why I still hold a DSLR :)

Why photos are quite soft or out of focus??

Taken on wide open in DX sensor is like that one.. if stop down on f2.8 should be sharp at all

Actually most of the pictures are way overexposed. And when posting a picture without proper size reduction, it will look soft also. And some of the pictures are just out of focus. I believe the lens is very sharp... just maybe some of the pictures here do not represent the capabilities of the lens that well.

It is likely the latter. Here is a shot of taken with 28mm f/1.8. It is reasonably sharp lens. I use it to supplement my 24-70 when I need faster lens.

Hi may I ask if the sharpness was bumped up a lot in this shot or just minimal? In PP.
