the FE is a prime lens you know?

ya i know lah.not so toopid lah!

since it's super wide, i can zoom it by cropping it mah.:bsmilie:

you can do the same witha WA prime too ... :sticktong
btw i would advise against buying it
the images will become jelat after a while

Actually both 10.5mm FE and 12-24mm are good lenses to own and use, especially if one shoots a lot of landscape.

The exaggerating distortion of the FE and wideness of the 12mm will provide many hours of fun and laughter.

really love you guys.
always there when i need advises and sample of pics.
even if one find day i find canon a sexier body to own, i might not change camps because of you;)

FE really looks fun.
but when i look through some of the defished pics, can really see even after nikon capture DI, some of the subjects looks distorted.
eg, look at the lenses on the right posted by mazdadan.
i hate such distortions.

How abt the Sigma 10-20mm....

It has 2mm more wide and at 10mm there is a sorta fisheye effect too...

Think of it this way..
1) 2mm more than other wide angle lenses
(Dont say abt the Canon 10-20.. Nikon dont have..)

2) a bit of the Fisheye effect

3) Zoom lens (Better than the prime Nikon 10.5mm)

Just a suggestion... hehe... Am happy with my 10-20mm lens :)

wide angles like 10-20, 12-24 images compare to fisheye are totally diff..Unless you talk about the new fisheye zoom.

10-20 is not bad,but i feel restricted to 15mm (10x1.5)

On the other hand, the 12-24 gives me the freedom to go full 12mm on film whenever assignments require..And the 12-24, if you find a good copy, it is facinating.

Din keep the 10-20, keeping my wide gears to just 2x 12-24mm and 2 fisheyes :)

1)what new fisheye zoom?

2)what u mean by find a good copy?u mean to say diff lens of the same make may produce diff quality?so how do i choose one that's acceptable?

1) Tokina has a new 10-17mm Fisheye zoom lens.

2) Sample variability. Many folks find that lenses can have minor to noticeable differences in imaging quality. Some may be less sharp, or have uneven field of sharpness, etc. Manufacturing tolerances, QC issues, and damage (eg. lens element dislodged slightly during shipping) may give rise to such problems. I am sure this occurs for all lenses, but would mainly be noticed on expensive "pro" lenses since folks who buy these would scrutinise for IQ much more than the average consumer. So some people will try out various copies of a lens before buying one that produces IQ acceptable to them. In the US, this is quite often done by buying a lens, shooting a bunch of photos, then returning the lens for a full refund within 7-14 days if it doesn't meet their expectations. Just read other forums and you will see that this is quite common. In sg, some people are known to try out each lens that is available in the shop (if they keep stock), or go from shop to shop trying a specific lens, then buy what looks best.
