Good bye 5D?

Hope the images are close to fs700. If yes, it would be awesome.

Sony totally cannibalizing themselves and killing everyone. Does the onboard zoom only work for alpha lens?

Epic win for consumers whichever way it is.

Most likely onboard zoom will only work with their lenses.

This will definitely kill the Mark3, but those with Mark2 can prepare to use them as B cams and this one as A cam.

Ooh interesting!! Looks like it is targeted at prosumer market thou, I'm curious of the codec. Should be AVCHD I guess. I would prefer this over FS700 for the low light.

I read that there are some possible issues.

1. Its only full frame on Sony lenses using LA-EA3? EF (canon) mount lenses will only work in crop mode? A little confusing for this

2. Lack of good sony lenses that will 'fully' support the inbuild zoom and focus.

3. 24Mbps/s seems abit lacking for FF. The fact that awesome images from GH2 requires at least 70ish Mpb/s & crazy ones going for 140ish Mpb/s (as show in the recent shootout)

Is it going to to be Full Frame Prosumer Videocamera with tiny specs and so-so video quality? We'll have to wait for reviews.

Which one will u buy, this Sony Nex VG900 or the other Sony Nex EA-50H ?

Thanks

I think Sony Nex EA-50H is more for those doing ENG stuff or interview. Its quite alot of bigger from looks of it ... bigger than FS700?

should be good right if i follow the VG path?

i wanted to buy a VG20 and was thinking when the next VG will be released..
then i came upon this..
so i will buy this VG, VG900 :)
i am just an amateur..

EA-50 is professional..
a little too professional if i am to bring it out for my fun shoot.. :)

Whoa!!! The optional XLR input went even beyond my wildest expectation. Does Sony expect to keep selling their FS100/700/F3?

If you're not the sort that jumps at every new equipment release then the VG900 shall serve you well for a long while, maybe 4 to 5 years.

my path..

1. 8mm (forgot which TR already still with me, sticky and moudy :p)
2. DV (forgot which PCx and still with me, also sticky and moudy :p)
3. DVD (forgot which TR and still with me, almost mint because seldom use and in dry cabin all this years :p)
4. Nex5 with SEL 28-200 , so far so good :)
4a. gopro hero 2 , so far so good :)

so VG900 should be a good choice i bet..
or maybe a cheaper range VG30..

But the price for VG900 at USD3,300 does not come with any lens, am I correct ?

If we we to get the powered 18-300 lens, it will cost us another usd1,200 and another usd800 for the xlr optional unit. So, total cost will be usd5,300.

Would it be better then to get the Sony Nex-EA50H ?

Any opinion ?

Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong, this VG900 will only utilize the full frame sensor if we attach to it any A lens using the LA-EA3 adapter.

Otherwise if we attach to it the E mount lens, VG900 will resort back to the APS-C sensor, am I correct ?

So, if we want to use the auto zoom function or the zoom rocker button on the body, what lens must we attach to it, the A mount lens or the E mount lens ?

Thanks

I think the VG900 is worth the extra $$$ for the larger sensor in a smaller body. The only down side is the limited Sony lens available. But it doesn't bother me as I only use nikon AI/AIS lens.

Thanks bro.

Do you know whether:

a) can I use the existing lens that I have which comes together with my Sony Nex5 camera ? (if yes, but it will only utilize APS-C sensor ?)

b) if I want to utilize the power auto zoom, what lens must I use ? (only the E-mount lens ?)

c) is it true that if use the A-mount lens using the LA-EA3 adapter, the auto zoom function is disable/will not work ?

Thanks

Sony users pls enlighten us for the lenses thingy

But for using auto focus and rocker, I believe all NEX lenses will support. Not sure if they have a 24-70 2.8. If have, it should be basically the ONE lens you have on your vg900 90% of the time cause on full frame, no need for f1.4 or f1.2 cause bokeh (if needed) and low iso(more incoming light) should be awesome enough on f2.8 for most shooting conditions.

Nice XLR adaptor kit. Saw from press kit that it's able to split the 2 inputs, so there's like a total of 4 audio in.
I always have an issue with the NEX handycams bodies being abit too teenie weenie, ergonomics-wise though.

Available in APAC mid November, anyone getting it?

Yes, thinking of getting this bcos almost bought the VG20.

Can I know how much improvement in terms of sound quality using the XLR adapter has over the inbuilt microphone ?

I mean is the inbuilt microphone really bad ?

Thanks
