newpaper's report on XMM shoots

i onced slammed her and her boyfriend for producing trashy images with equally trashy DI when they started blaming it on their equipment. in the end that thread became one of the hottest thread too.

hahah she branded herself as a former freelance model. I wonder what's the definition of model. The reporter must be laughing in his heart thinking...

"model? former freelance model? LOL, go back must tell the rest of the people what models have become in singapore. But sigh die die must haf something to write, so forget it la"

Everyone's a model nowadays. I was reading a magazine featuring a number of people recently and at least 3 girls in there called themselves models.
For me the definition of a model is if you are signed on with a respectable agency at least.

With photographers, you have to actually own a camera to be called a photographer.
Higher bar of entry.

if there was no kirk

if there was no averal, there would be other people to take their place.

only a matter of time, anyways, if i be blunt

don't think there are many silly people who will want to talk to the media on such matters .... if i be blunt, only stupid or media-seeking ppl will be that silly :dunno:
usually it caused so much unnecessary stresses to many other innocent bystanders (the many nice GWC here) ... because the media will focus on what sells ...

well to be honest i wasn't surprised with kirk...he'd been in here harping about his one tune compliants b4.

Hi guys
I actually don't think the article is so bad.
Of course they're trying to find an angle on it.
But I think our conscience are clear. There are some of us who are shooting girls in lingerie.

TNP wants to make it seem like shooting girls in lingerie is disgusting and wrong.
This is not true.
There is also nothing wrong with photographs focusing on one's sexuality. There's a whole genre of it.
To those photographers who do shoots which focus on sexuality and sexiness (however you define it), you have a responsibility to ensure that your pictures are of a quality where even if people disagree with your direction, they can respect your skill.

Let's not be too affected by TNP. Those people logging into CS because of this article may be disappointed to find out that there most of the pictures here aren't like what they read in TNP.

BTW agentmonkey it was Razor who posted that image of the woman in mitre hotel, not me.

once again amen.

no need to play the blame game here

if there was no kirk

if there was no averal, there would be other people to take their place.

no la not what i meant...i'm saying that now people are prob looking for facings to blame about the negative publicity and since those 2 were named as whistle blowers the community at large will be focused on them lor.

shooting aunties is cool too... think mattlock did one before, if i'm not mistaken... some aunty lying on the counter of the old mitre hotel. that was creative and quirky

hahaha! i miss her!

This is a case where some low end reporters are running out of steam of what to write. News angle is always a critical selling point of reporter's own portfolio.

In this case, I would not be surprised if reporter went for the shoot, enjoyed the pornography aspect (since his/her mind was full of that sheet) and then write something up. This is something like f a hen first before slaughtering it since he is so cheap.

I had been threatened by reporters before, but i smiled and told her she can write all she want at the cost of her career.

But these days, they are reported to be more daring. Wasn't there a case here where a reporter stole pictures to publish without consent or rights sold to?

This is a photography forum, I think if models wanna advertise their service here. PAY for advertising fee. Why should photographers pay for it when things turn sour. At least it would be models looking for photographers to do their portfolio. And if a photographer needs to build portfolio, he/she can always go throught a model's forum (if they have 1) to advertise too

If they think the're really models...go sign up with an agency or something. We photographers have our own forum portal in Singapore and that is Clubsnap. If these models really think they are something go get your own portal. Why come here to look for opportunities and demolish the bridge after getting what they want.

I'm quite irritated at the service offered section esp during the holidays where threads read...i'm back for shoot as its the holidays, limited time only...I only do paid shoots, TFCDs only for creative ideas/concept.
their portfolio is none other than their blog andtheir posing is only nothing. Its time that photographers take the blame for all the crap

Have we heard of such complains from the legitimate modelling agencies in Singapore? Nope, only with XMM who are willing to bare for money, and turn their tail against those who pay them. Isn't it shameful? Maybe should show their parents what they started doing at the beginning to lead to all these problems.

Very well said. But in Clubsnap, there is a good mix of true photographers, GWC, XDD, XMM, harm sup loh and harm sup aunties.

This community is too vast for us to comprehend sometimes. Eg, a true photographer can also have a few identies. Quite a few of my friends quit coming here as it became a playground for chit chat and not a real place to do business or exchange ideas.

So, in the end, this is not a place where photographers gather. Many have gone across the bridge liao. LOL

Sad to say that not all "Models" are models and likewise, not all "Photographers" are photographers. And I don't think all organizers are model agencies.

Each group basically have their own agendas as to why they participate in such activities. As mentioned, there are many avenues for the conduct of such business.

But like all platforms, the onus is for the participants to be aware of Carvat Emptor. ie, should anyone responds to STClassified and the deal sours, you don't go after ST, right? You go after the advertisers themselves.

So, how should CS react in such case? It's not only up to the admins and mods but Everyone... No demand » no supply. ;)

....
Higher bar of entry.

An off-shoot idea... I tink CS can raise the bar of entry to the Portraits subforum... like make it similar to the restricted forums.

let's not mudsling individuals here

newspaper report has nothing to do with the individual incidents here; if we daisychain them together, then we are also sinking to that certain level.

cheers
But still, we can't avoid the fact that some people are abusing Clubsnap's namesake to balantly promote themselves.

There shld at least be a degree of control to curb the influx of pervertic 'model photographers'. At least to maintain whatever credibility Clubsnap has left on its name.
No doubt DSLRs are getting cheap and 'professional photographers' are becoming a Dime a Dozen thing but at least by booting such people out outright, you effectively disassociate any undesirable elements out. 1 less problem

It's a fat grey line between what's acceptable and what's not. Who's to say what?

No need a lot of control lah. Let the media blow this big enough and the whole genere will die naturally... like photographing children in some countries.

Hypocritical ?

Take a look their sunday TNP cover.

It shows the pic of the deceased Singaporean hostage in Bikini.
icon8.gif

Why the use of such saucy pics of the deceased for cover page?

It simply shows their lack of moral ethics, sensitivity and respect for the victim and her family from the editorial team.

Then the following pages they took a 180 degrees turn and stood on moral high ground damning amateur photographers using Art as an excuse to fullfill their sleazy hobbies..

Oh well ... :)

Their main objective seemed to be focused on generating higher readership leh.
And Sex Sells !
Thus the need for sensational articles

Anyway I can see that CS not affected leh

Still got so many sexy shoots lining up for Dec :embrass:

Any TNP journalist joining any coming shoots?

You can actually ask the organizer to give you 30% discount since confirmed + chop + guaranteed that the photos taken will definitely be from a professional angle ;p

Tink u misunderstand liao.. nothing to do wif moderation. This board have facilities to totally disallow access to certain sub-forum. I think it also have criteria based accesses too.

Currently, non registered / not signed in have no access to the portraits subforum... I'm refering to raising that bar.

*edit.. mabbe extent that bar to services section too to minimise 'fly-by-holiday' operations :D
