newbies corner

How about the CS Admin start a thread for newcomers to post their greetings, instead of us seeing a new thread about "Hi..i'm new to clubsnap...hope to ..." every now and then?

Actually i don't see the need for that either. Just join into the other discussions will do. But its just my personal opinion.

I've noticed most threads are by guys, but once a gal start a thread, u see buayas coming in and the thread gets into numerous pages within a day.

Imagine we have a thread for that, it will become a chit chat thread, and buayas will abuse it.

Well,hi. I'm actually new here and does not know how to navigate around. Can someone maybe drop me a msg to guide me along? Well,I'd agree for a small thread for the newbies to come in and say "Hi,I'm new here" yada yada. Since I'm one of the newbies/noobies here. Anyway,I seriously have no idea of how to navigate around,so can someone perhaps drop me a msg to guide me?

It's like,a lil' weird if I just jump in and start talking when I don't know what's the topic about. Scarly get flamed

How about creating one subforum just for self introduction alone, and leave the newbies corner just for discussions on basic photography. Of course, its subjective on what is considered basic photography, but it might be neater than what we have now.

actually hor, i think there is a message that tells the newly registered to come in and say hi to everyone

there is a sticky in the newbies forum that has all sorts of useful information

So... since newbies almost never (99%) read the newbies guides and tips, what makes it therefore logical that they'll stick to a "Newbie greetings here" forum category?

Then they post there, and immediately follow it up with "I don't know what camera to buy, plz intro to me" post and we have another Newbies Corner.

nah.. we should have the entire newbie handbook incorporated into the T&Cs... then they have to verify every line before they can press the OK button.

Hmmm. I wonder if it would be possible to modify the "thank you for signing up!" page to add the "You may want to get started by reading our newbie guides..." link or sending a "welcome to ClubSnap! Important things you need to know" email?
