Hi all,

Newbie seeking advice from all the pros around....

The 'flare' in the VF really gets in the way sometimes.

Can an upgrade be done?

Wrote back to Andrew Chan of Schmidt but has yet to receive a reply.

Thanks!

sure U R a newbie?
anyway, cannot afford the R6.2 U were selling.

thought the M6 VF was good (now don't have M6)
what is there to upgrade?
it is a precision piece that is best left undisturbed.

Yup, definitely a newbie with Leica. I am just lucky in the sense that I managed to get a few items off a friend who was selling.

Still trying to find out what's what.

And the addiction is terrible.

Keep us updated about the finder, my friend may want to know.........

And about the addiction: good luck with it! :-), you don't want to know the withdrawal effects..........

When I sent in my M4-P to Andrew for servicing a couple of months ago, he said the viewfinder could be upgraded to a M7/MP-type, but it would have to be done in Germany. I would think it is the same for your M6.

hey benny.....just to say hi and welcome to CS!

Thank you thank you.....

Hope to see your photos one day.

No, DAG is in Oregon, Wisconsin, U S of A. Great service, if a bit slow.

I've also ordered parts from DAG before, he is reliable and has a good reputation in the states.

Thanks all.

Seems like it is a lot of work.

I use the shade on my M7 (older version without the new anti-flare VF) and have been very please with it. I agree that the brightline frames get dimmed but its still useable... just the case of getting used to it.

Thanks.... may give it a go. Did you have a soft release? I emailed Tom's website but didn't get a reply even.

The TA soft release is a must-have accesory for any Leica M. I know Tom has been away in Europe. Try emailing him again. He should be back now.

Or you can get it from Joseph, he stocks Abrahamsson products too including the soft releases.

true... but not so dim as to become usable. Besides, it does a very good job of preventing flaring from taking place. And it improves the contrast of the patch.

Actually, i have a new, unused shade now. I took out the previous one to see if i can get used to the occasional flare patch and surprise, surprise, i did! it's a matter of moving the eye a little if it happens and getting a feel for when it will happen...... however i'm keeping the shade with me in case i get into situations where i might really need it...
