Newbie learning to take food photos

Questions:
If you take the photos at the restaurant or food centre, do you get funny looks from other customers / hawkers?
Anyone made smart alec or insulting comments about you taking the food photos?
Any restaurant manager forbidding you from taking photos of the food that was served to you?

love the photos.

Especially love the fact that this thread has been going on for so long we can see the evolution of your photo-taking over time.

Great job.

Based on my personal accounts:
- Funny looks and stares would be common, usually involving the older generation of individuals.

- So far, no indecent comments have been thrown at me (don't know if people did so behind my back; but that's another story). A caucasian dude literally gave me two thumbs up when he saw me snapping away on food items on my table. I smiled back and acknowledged him by giving him two thumbs up as well.

- Haven't been approached by any restaurant managers with regards to forbidding people from taking photos of their food. They're usually too busy serving other tables/overseeing the restaurant's operations (during meal times), or nowhere to be seen (during the restaurant's "quiet" time). I don't see any reason for them to deny you the opportunity/freedom of taking photos of the food that you ordered. But if they do so, obliging to their request would be better than making a scene.

Here's a little read on taking photos of food at restaurants;

Just sharing my 2 cents worth!

hmm... not much funny looks or comment from the hawkers or restaurant managers. Most of our local hawkers were friendly and were happy that you took their food photos, thanks to many food blogs around they know that it may be a boost to their business. 1 uncle even told me take nicer hor hahaha
but I do restrict myself from using flash in the restaurant. Do not want to disturb other customers.

As for customers, yes i do get those weird looks from them :bsmilie: not really weird, just that they like to see what you're doing because I took up "Big Camara" (DSLR) as mostly they see is others customers just use iPhone to take photos

Chicken Egg Roll
i-Cooked

Fusion of Chinese Peking Duck with a little Japanese touch.
Substitute Peking duck to Japanese fried chicken & also substitute Chinese sweet sauce to Teriyaki sauce.

Nice photos.

A "request" you to take photos of specific foods we have in mind.

For example:

Chee Cheong Fun (just with soya sauce + oil + green chili).
豉油熟油 猪肠粉
