Yes, you are correct.
Only Fujifilm HyperUtility HS-V3 will import and retain the camera's settings. BUT the software is a "pain-in-the-butt" to use.
no go for Finepix Studio?

Finepix Studio is worse than HyperUtility.
Yes, i am still very very confuse about using HS-V3. Anyone can help?
you might want to explain what it is you are confused about.
Is Fujifilm HyperUtility HS-V3 free?
Don't find it in the CD...But got to download the 270MB file on the website.
I think you have to buy the Fujifilm HyperUtility HS-V3 software. The download in the Fujifilm website is only the updater software to the original cd version.
Not sure how much is this Fujifilm HyperUtility HS-V3 though. Any bros care to share?
Aiyah.... go buy Adobe Lightroom 2.0 lah.
It is a much more user-friendly software and operates 1,000 times faster than HyperUtility.
By the way, you can purchase HyperUtility software for about S$150 these days.
But LR 2.0 doesn't retain the film simulation...

With the extended warranty you have nothing to worry. But do check the terms & conditions on what conditions are covered under the warranty.
