Yeap.... It is too blue.

Here is the color-corrected version.

By the way, I try not to use Film Simulation mode. Sometimes it does produce weird colors.

Thanks. Noted.

no sorry haha i meant the comments for TS cus the green look weird like nikon's green :bsmilie:

I use Auto WB and F2 film simulation, this is how it looks. Is there any other setting I have to take note?

Hi can someone briefly list down for me the pros and cons?
is it good for someone who wants nice bokehs, good for landscapes, vibrant colours?
cause im considering buying

here's in brief.

best colours out of the box compare most new cams. very slow in speed(frame per second) compare to all cams. AF same as nikon D200 which it uses it's body. dynamic range the best compare to most new cams(dun need to compare old cams because they can't smell the S5pro smoke).

for that kind of price i'll grab it with no further question. *** way cheaper than D90/D300.

my 3 cents worth

1. Turn off power saver mode, if you will. I have this problem as well. When it is in power save mode, you need to activate the camera my pressing one button, follow by your desire choice.

Bro Lunas, you are right, once I off power saver mode, I dont hv to press once wait for 5 secs then press another time again b4 I can view pics or enter menu......thanks for the tips. Mine is not a lemon after all.........

Hi,

Try not switch auto power to off, because if you do and forgot to deactivate your LCD display, the display will be on until the batt power is drained.

I have set it to 2 mins to be on the safe side.

Okie...good idea, thanks ;)

Pertaining to the colors, somehow Firefox does make the blue sky purplish if this add-on is installed https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6891 . I have just installed Apple's Safari and found that the colors are more pleasing to my eye.

is it good for someone who wants nice bokehs

Achieving good bokeh depends greatly on the focal length, optics formula, lens coatings, minimum (largest) aperture and the number of blades inside the lens being used.

good for landscapes

With its wide dynamic range, it is one of the best camera for landscape photography. Unlike some of the Nikon DSLR I have used, I do not need a graduated or ND filter with the S5 Pro.

vibrant colours?

Beside S2 Pro and S3 Pro, S5 Pro has one of the best colors among all DSLRs available currently.

If you think Nikon's green is bad, wait till you see Canon's green. Yuck..... :sticktong

Example of Canon's green before PP.

:ipuke::ipuke: Remind me of my S3 IS now seating in my dry cabinet:confused:

You may want to bear in mind that for landscape use, the resolution of the S3/S5 is limited by its 6mp + 6mp sensor. If you are OK with 6-8mp output, the S5 is great. If you need higher resolution (for cropping, etc), look elsewhere.

I'm kinda surprised that some here prefer to use the S5 than the D300. I've used both and I prefer the D300 -- it gives up little to the S5 (ok, a little less DR), but you get a lot more in sheer resolution, per pixel sharpness (and without the jagged egdes), speed, AF fine tuning and auto CA correction. These are all very useful features to me.

As for colour, it is pretty subjective and there's no end to the debate. I find the S5 colours mostly very good but just a little too biased towards magenta (which could partly explain why the colour of the sky in photo above looks "wierd"). You can easily tone it down in the camera. Personally, I also find the D300 a little too yellow (maybe after getting used to the Fuji colours!) and I tune it a little bit towards the blue channel -- that's my own preference of course.

yup the resolution of the s3pro I used is a minus. I have made some prints at A3+ size of my SD14 and s3pro and u can see a visible difference in the details of the print out.

but the D300 and s5pro is not a good comparison as the price is VERY DIFFERENT. Maybe the SD14 and s5pro is closer in price.

Is it true that S5 Pro produces better(smoother) bokeh than other camera?

Surprised?! It is very much dependent on what we shot...nothing to be surprised about...Some how you have an answer for yourself on your second para...the differentiation factors.

*Something additional to share....Taken with LX3 with SB900 bounced flash against the wall behind me...

Initial price of S5 and D300 are quite close...

As photobum mentioned, bokeh has nothing to do with the sensor -- it is determined by the lens. Maybe the lower resolution and lack of acuity of the S5 sensor gives an appearance of added smoothness...

I see.

preference is individual choice. for me, S5pro helps more cause i do spend much lesser time editing than D300. besides if i don't really need 6fps why should i go for D300? anyway more MP is not a requirement most of the time. for most, how big do you print? 4R? 14R? A0? most of us will probably print 8R at most in which higher MP doesn't make much differences. when i need to print poster size, i'll just set to RAW. 25MB of infomations is good enough. how big is D300 RAW?

btw i used both too.

err.... big MB does not mean lots of detail/resolution. Neither it is an "advantage".

Fujifilm raw is just inefficient in packing information and half that information is for dynamic range.

PS: err... I am not "against" s5pro... I am selling my SD14 and buying a s5pro soon I think. Mainly for the DR and auto WB.

so far things work for me. so i let it be!
