new to Fuji's S5 Pro...

it gives up little to the S5 (ok, a little less DR), but you get a lot more in sheer resolution, per pixel sharpness (and without the jagged egdes), speed, AF fine tuning and auto CA correction.

Okay... here is how I feel.

I have got a few images from the S5 Pro enlarged to A0 size (33.1" × 46.8") prints. With a little multipass sharpening done in Photoshop, I can bring out a lot of details from a 34 MB RAF file. That was the biggest size I ever printed, and I have done it with very good success.

I have to agree with Jacob. Not everyone will print up to A0 size like I did. Most of us will only enlarge up to 8R size. So a 6MP camera is more than good enough.

Just for your information, a good friend of mine, Lim Ching of In'Vogue Studio [www.invogue-studio.com], uses an Olympus E1 for all his wedding shoots. Most of his prints can go up to C0 size (36.1" × 51.1") and he has absolutely no problem with this 5 MP camera.

Agree, 6mp is more than what most people need (hope I'm not being presumptious here).

On the other hand, it is clear to me that for output bigger than 8x12, say 12x18 or 16x20, prints from a 12mp D300 are clearly better (sharper, smoother) than those from a 6mp D70.

So, at the end of the day, what is acceptable is very subjective and up to the individual. I recognise that other factors, eg, technique, lens quality, pp, also matter greatly. I'm not a megapixel nut, but pixels do matter for large prints.

Why are we fighting here... Join the F.U.N outing n see for urself... We can talk til the cow come home... Better to see wat the FUJIFILM can do rather talking about it... Seeing is believing... ;) Just my 1/2 cent tot...

i used D70 for big poster size sometime ago and it's acceptable. personally it depends whether you are looking at the poster at 5cm distance or 1m distance. for me, 6mp is good enough.

Pertaining to the colors, somehow Firefox does make the blue sky purplish if this add-on is installed https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6891 . I have just installed Apple's Safari and found that the colors are more pleasing to my eye.

try this for firefox.

1. in the url box, type "about:config". ignore the warning about voiding your warrangy and click "i'll be careful, i promise!" :bsmilie:

2. in the filter box, type "gfx". a list of matching items will appear.

3. look for "gfx.color_management.enabled". the default value should be "false".

4. double click on it to set the value to "true".

now view the pic in firefox.

Hi guys, digress a bit. Where can I buy the original S5 Pro battery and how much does it cost? Cheers!

Wow, seems like I touched some raw nerves here with my comments about the S5pro... If I'd offended anyone, let me be the first to apologise.

My intention was merely to give my views about certain aspects of the camera, as objectively as I can. I stand by what I said. Many disagree, so be it -- there's no need to get personal here; we are merely discussing about a piece of equipment. That's what a forum is for -- no one has a monopoly on the "truth."

Enough said, I think.

dont worry...chill bro...i dont think anyone is offended here...no worries
its goood that opinions are shared and discussed....else we will all be frog in the well wouldnt we :)
enjoy ur weekends...

dont worry lah. most of us here already know what the S5 Pro can and cannot do. we already accepted the S5 Pro for what it is, take the bad and the good, and enjoy the photos. at the end of the day 6mp, 8mp or 12mp, it still takes good pics that we love. :)

I was really sick (cough, cold, fever and sore throat) and in a foul mood yesterday.

Let me apologise to you for being harsh and rude.

By the way, I deleted both offensive messages. :embrass:

The mega pixel war started again?? Frankly speaking even if i have a 100 mega pixel DSLR, can burst 5 frames per second and can take super sharp photo but the color sucks and blow out easily i rather throw the camera away.

I am lucky i tried fujifilm digicam before when major brands for digicam started to enter the market many many years back. I got the fujifilm z2800Z because of the cheaper price then nikon and other more branded brands. Since then no other brands come close to what the z2800 gives me. You got to use fujifilm cam to appreciate it's power.

After I recovered from yesterday's fever, I suddenly realised that F.U.N. members should be 'Friendly, United and Noble'.

It seems like you have missed the messages I posted here yesterday (I deleted them this morning). They were mean and harsh. :(

What is the RAW processor that you are using, so that the film simulation setting will not be deleted?

Because when I import over to LR, the film simulations no long attached...

i shall still lurk :D

i don't use these but i think the only software that will retain the settings are Hyperutility HS-V3 and Finepix Studio.

Yes, you are correct.

Only Fujifilm HyperUtility HS-V3 will import and retain the camera's settings. BUT the software is a "pain-in-the-butt" to use.
