I tried the video mode on my D90 over several occasions, and then I grew tired of it before I bought my Tamron lens.

The D90 video is a "nice to have" feature but I don't really bother much about it.

Thereafter, I have hardly used the LV and video function of my D90 ever since. Sorry!

Pardon me for ignorance on the Tamorn terms, this lens can be use on FX cam?

Nope. It will have a horrible vignett at the wider end... All Tamron lenses designated as Di II are meant to be used with the DX format.

Ok, thanks. So as long as i see a Di or Di II status, it means that it's for DX format only.

No, Di = enhanced for Digital cam, but still can be used on SLR or FF body (but its not optimised for FX format). But Di II strictly for smaller sensor size only (unless you dun mind the back vignette).

Hi all i'm planning to get this lens, but not sure if i should wait for a couple of months more. My question is, how stable are Tamron Lens prices?
Given the current promotion, it seems like a good deal cos if u spend $900 on Tamron Lens, you get a $100 Tangs Voucher..so basically you're paying $800 only...promotion ends 17th Jan, and i'm going to the US from 3rd to 23rd so gotta decide soon.

Checked US prices, its about 600usd, so not exactly cheaper than Singapore...

Any advice bros? Tks :)

I've heard from our fellow CS'ers that NSC's pixel mapping service isn't good.
He ended up with more hot pixels when the camera was returned to him after 2 weeks.

"rough" or some resistence (definitely not STUCK) is normal and it is mentioned in almost all reviews.

Yes, unfortunately the 6 years warranty is only for the US market. But its a sign of confidence that Tamron believe their quality is improving or they would not offer this 'super' warranty. Or i could be completely wrong and they just cant be bothered so whoever wants to change for another one, go ahead and try your luck again (?!)

Did any tamron user ever receive the free voucher from jelcorp? i email filled warranty and receipt to gen.enquiries@jelcorpcom, no reply. i call up the customer service, she is very rude and told me to email to another email.... (vommited blood) now i try to fax..... Haiz Any user please advice? Thx

what email address did they ask u to email to? and how long ago did u email?

Tested 2 copies in Brisbane Australia and both 'suffer' from the same issue but I'm told they were built that way to prevent 'zoom creep' and after some use it smoothens out. I wouldnt worry about it.
What I would worry about is that the prelimary tests I did with it vs the Canon 18-200mm IS and the 100% crops came out decidedly sharper on the Canon. I tested 2 tammys with identical results, both poorer than the Canon. I had my heart set on the Tamron but now having second thoughts.

i second that.
nevertheless to have a smooth zoom, I slightly tilt the barrel:
(1) down during extension
(2) up during retracting
the weight of the glass will make the zoom smoother.
nevertheless, i have not (yet) suffered from zoom creeping! :bsmilie:
