New sensor for X10 and X-S1 (to fix white orbs)

how did they solve it? what's the best way to check whether there's such problem with the camera?

according to the worksheet calibration was done.

you can take a test picture one with setting iso 100/ dr 100/ medium jpeg and one with iso 100 / dr 400 / medium jpeg, if your camera has a problem you will notice
immediately the diff. the one with the dr 400 looks very grainy even on broad daylight.

noted. my X10 was just sent back for repair. will check next time. thanks. :)

Thanks I was holding off the sensor replacement. Glad that it has been solved. Shouldnt they calibrate correctly it the first time... Aren't you pissed off that you have to go to fujifilm service center so many times (4 times...)?

okay below are a couple of examples. i don't remember the camera being this noisy.

* update: fujisg has fixed the problem. got my x10 back :D

why did you remove the pics? I thought they were great examples to show fellow X10 owners what to look out for after sensor replacement...

I am going to collect back my X10 today after the sensor swap.

Hopefully there is no noise issue. Would really hate to go back a third time.

mind if I ask you, how long have you waiting to get your x10 sensor replacement?

I'm still waiting for them to call me....

from what i read it only affects a small batch and hopefully after the problem with my unit, yours will not have a problem.
i didn't mind going back as it was near my place.
i removed the pic coz i thought no one is looking hehe i'll try to add it again for reference.

Hey guys..i'm contemplating on picking up a x10 however the new sensor issue is pretty confusing..so if i were to get a new set with the new sensor i would still hav to get the camera calibrated?? i've actually been camping here for awhile hoping all the little quirks of the x10 would be resolved when i pick one up =(

I waited for 1 month plus. I told Fuji I was going overseas in late August so they said they moved me up the queue so I can get it fixed before my vacation.

I got mine back. Everything looks ok at ISO100 and DR400. does not look like there is any excessive noise.

My work sheet stated lens replacement & calibration done. All completed within 4 days.
The white orbs issue is fixed.
Tested the camera at Aperture mode, ISO 100 & ISO 400, DR100 & DR400 medium size all seems fine to me.

oh alright, guess i have to continue waiting,

i registered on july if im not wrong. haha

The last time I checked with Fujifilm Singapore couple weeks back, they are still replacing sensors for those registered in april ... so it'll be quite a wait ... seems like sensor shipments from japan are very slow...

damn, it's gonna be a long wait for me then........

luckily i'm not really affected by the white orb issue haha

Hi marvinnotdmartian,

Could you post those pics again. i was the one of the first to get my sensor replaced, not sure abt the noise issue. hope to see yours as a reference. Thanks manz!

mine has no mentioned of calibration but the pics look good.

In fact I find the lens zooming smoother than before. The color balance of the new sensor seems to be better.

I have my sensor replaced last month but I have to send my X10 back last week due to lens mechanism problem. The zoom displayed on LCD was not the same with the number on the lens. The lens cannot be turned to 112mm.

They called me to pick up yesterday but the F2.2/2.0 problem at 28mm is there although the firmware version is 1.03. I have to leave my X10 there again for them to fix it.

According to the receptionist, the lens unit will be replaced at the same time when the sensor is replaced. Make sure you check the F2.2/2.0 problem at 28mm (Aperture priority mode, change F-number with mode dial, zoom in and out) after sensor replacement. You could also ask the receptionist to help you to remind the technician to do calibration (ISO100, DR100/400, medium JPEG).

The receptionist promised me that she will try to feedback to the upper management regarding these issues.

Just want to say thank you to the bros for the heads-up on the potential noise and lens mechanism issue. I am sure many others are appreciative of the sharings too. Even though I am probably months away on the waitlist, at least I will know what to check for when it's my turn. Hopefully, Fujifilm will check for these issues automatically after sensor change by then.

The new lens zooming is indeed smoother.
Mine is fine, can zoom out to 112mm with f2.8 displayed. At 28mm, it is f2.0.
