New Pentax DSLR this week?

Be open minded! This camera is targeted at the lower end of the DSLR markets, not professionals. I have friends who buys DSLR instead of compacts because of the image quality. But they are not interested in photography as a hobby. These people also have white iPods.

iPods would not have been this pheonomenonly sucessful if it was black. If compacts and notebooks can come in colours other than black, SLRs should too.

This is a good move by Pentax, product differentiation. Specification alone cannot sell products, packaging is very important for that premium and unique impression.

if pentax is trying to capture the P&S crowd, they'd better make sure their cameras appear in ads and most crucially, in stores. i'm quite sure the white camera body + lens combo will attract some attention while perched among the crowd of near-identical black cameras.

all this strategy & rebranding means nothing without the necessary exposure on the ground level. will this ltd edition K-m even appear in singapore if even the black one is nowhere in sight?

oh well.. i guess we all raised our hopes too high for this announcement. let's get back to speculating over the 2009 releases!

Do you even think for a moment that Singapore with its tiny market share is in Hoya's mind? It is all about the US and Europe market.
If there are some left over, they will come, if not, Hoya wont even notice!

looks better if the grip is white as well...

the noise is very good...looks like a winner... now comes the question, can i live with no control to the AF point ?

the k-m game is rather fun...can choose which lens to shoot the beast :bsmilie:
anyone as bored as me tried the game ? :bsmilie:

Think Pentax lower the AF points to improve the speed of focusing at low light. However tracking of object is compromised as auto focusing grid density has reduced. Kind of like have more brains thinking per point now. If this is the case, I would prefer to have the lower AF points coz auto-focusing can always be a challenge.

Haha. Interesting pro and cons reactions.

To me, it's just a unique, limited edition colour option for an existing model.. though it doesn't officially exist in S'pore, bah!
