haiz, y so negative? show:thumbsd: and say selling nikon lens?? y so extreme? since we waited for so long lets jus be positive and look forward to it. high end low end will come eventually... hahaha. jus shoot and snap and be happy!

Eerrr... I prefer lower prices as well as lower noise :)

Noise is expensive. The more noise manufacturers put inside the camera, the higher the price they have to sell it. That's why older cameras cost more and have more noise. ;)

by the end of the year, definitely some camera has to be released. as the manager said, two cams a year. so isn't it redundant to say that something will be released this year?

don't know what the fuss is about, the camera will come. whether next month or next year, are you gona change your camera immediately?

technology will get better, always. noise will become less, price will become lower. it's just step by step. chill guys, your dream camera will come.

the more ridiculous the dream, the more ridiculous the wait. :D

As usual its all ambiguous statements. Talk is cheap. Show us the new bodies. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

whack the next poster who starts a new rumour!!! :kok: :hammer:

I'd like a D300 so I can get the D200 for less :D

From today's (20070716) ST, page H7, under "Digital cameras alter photo lenscape":

* Mr Marc Fung, sales and marketing manager, Nikon Singapore.

What do you guys think this new range is ?
Izit a low-end consumer range, even cheaper than D40 or prosumer range to rival the 5D ?

dono wat kinda of crap it is 600-700 for a dslr very hard to belive by than mebbie they release lousy de than they bring their name down plz don flame me ! i m oso a nikon user myself!

I wish is FM3D compact type of DSLR, or perhaps a digital rangefinder from nikon. :D
missing old days...

Even when D200 replacement comes out...D200 price will not drop much, as it has it own basic or minimum value.

As mentioned, there will be new RANGE of new Nikon DSLRs, it should consists of both low and high end models. Especially when D2X/s is so old.

Noise is actually not really a problem, how big do u want to print. Most of the time the 'Nikon noise' doesn't affect anything but our picky mindset. The noise doesn't matter at all. It is the photo that counts.

I think some of you managed to get the keyword, which is range.
I can't remember when Nikon announced a range of DSLRs before, mostly they just announced one body at a time, except maybe the D1H/X twins. Maybe this range is intended to replace the D40/D80/D200, so there's something for everybody. The 2 cameras a year thingie, I believe, the guy is including the Coolpix range, since they were talking about PnS in the beginning of the article.

As for the $600-$700, yeah, the keyword is eventually. The guy never said this coming range will cost that much, it's probably a target set by marketing for the R&D people to work towards. Not a bad thing, if you ask me. Maybe the high cost of DSLRs have kind of ingrained certain expectations on price, for eg. nobody believed a sub-USD1000 DSLR was possible until Canon came out with the 300D, then later Nikon bettered it with the D70 (a slightly higher price, but better, IMO). Same for the 18-200 VR lens, nobody believed it could be done at that price range until the real thing appeared.
In the hey-days of film cameras, you can spend just a few hundred dollars and get a pretty decent SLR which has as good IQ as a pro model. Digital cameras are of course more complex but consumers' budgets haven't changed that much. A lot of people in 3rd-world countries are still using film cameras because of lower cost.

To be honest, I have never been concerned about noise from Nikon DSLRs since D70. Only those people who have not used film before would complain. In fact, I would prefer natural looking images with some noise rather than an artificially clean looking image. ;p

If it's a new range, plus all the speculation about Sony's sensor going to 1.2x, I'd speculate that the new range might be 1.2x and then eventually inching towards FF without the price barrier of the competition.

We'll wait and see and meantime, don't forget to shoot more with the existing equipment to get our money worth.. ;p

F3 -> F4 is 8 years, F4 -> F5 is about 8 years, F5 -> F6 is about 6 years, D1 -> D2H is 4 years, D1X -> D2X is 4 years. D2Xs is barely 2 years and it's old?

Yeah... 'Eventually... may....'. ;p I missed that out. I would trust Nikon to come out with some great stuff.

actually nikon's consumer dslrs are pretty good
and if the low end price drops to $600-700 then the middle range will also drop

better technology at lower prices

LOL, you guys still @ it? Dream less and shoot more. :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Good one bro! Dont care abt the future costs... and waste the great photo opportunities you could have missed out taking during the wait...

Now these "missed out" pictures.... are priceless

Very possible, considering Pentax is already selling sub S$1K DSLRs.
