That is why I'm saying some R&D by Nikon into the lenses arena instead of the camera arena would make me happy. Who knows if they can make some kind of miracle?
As long as the weight doesn't go beyond 6kg I'll be happy.

There are physical limits that no amount of R&D can overcome.... for one the diameter of the aperture is focal length / f-stop... a 200mm 1.4 will have an aperture of 14cm in diameter... the glass element will obviously need to be bigger than that... now if you consider the 70-200 vr is at 1.5kg... a 18-200mm 1.4 will be much much much heavier than that due to larger glass elements and more glass elements since it is a superzoom.... oh.. and you'll need to rear mount any filter you want to use....

R&D. In 10 yrs computers increased from 64kb Hard Disk to 160GB? If you asked me in 1995 what I would think of a 160GB HDD I would say impossible/super computer. Now it has become a "standard".
Let's not talk about the 1950s. But even as you look at camera progress, you have seen manual focus to CAM2000, manual metering to MATRIX, film to digital. Remember one of the first few digicams in 1991, the Kodak XXX? (I forgot the name)
Would you, in 1990 predicted that cameras capable of taking a photo and allowing you to review it instantly be possible?
Maybe it's just a fanciful dream of mine, but if Nikon were to be able to make a breakthrough, I would be one happy man, even if I needed to spend a bomb on these new generation lenses.
Or at the least, give me an 18-70mm f/1.4, nevermind the 18-200 f/1.4

Looks like there is a much higher probability that this time, the replacement cam for D200 is coming. The dealers seem to say so... but is it called the D300? Will there be more than 1 cam released?

Just called AP-Funan to check the price and they told me that D200 no longer in production and they expect a replacement anytime soon.
Hopefully it is true
