[ NEW ] lumix GX7

Hmmm... September, EM6, GX7 or EP5? Any advice, I have no hurry and can wait till Sep.

It's not a bad thing if u can wait. Assuming announcement in Sep is true, it should be in around Dec :)

End of the day , my feel is no matter EM6 , GX7 or EP5 each camera is great in its own way and none is really worse than the other. Its mainly one's preference coming to the ergonomics and the design that makes the decision.

Oly maybe dec. Pany... hmm.. if looking at the track record, at least 5-6 months later then will get in sg. Lets hope my assumption is wrong this time.

Right.. With all the newer cameras with the newer sensors, gh3/em5/epm2/epl5/epl6/ep5 & gx7. It's all a matter of form and usage. No longer Is IQ the limiting factor. IQ is now good enough.. It's all the other factors like evf, screen, tilt vs swivel, RF vs DSLR design, mic in, OLED, number of buttons, weather sealing or not, 1/4000 vs 1/8000 ss, wifi or not, GPS or not, etc

I never own a m43 but I'm seriously tempted. My 60D has been sitting in the dry cab partly because it's really heavy for me. I'm very petite... But it's going to be so hard for me to give up the DSLR. I love the colours from my Canon hence I have a question regarding your view on the difference in colour rendition pany vs oly.

I really like how this GX7 looks but I suspect I might end up having a more expensive system than my DSLR. Hahaha!

Maybe you should try out both to judge for yourself. I used to have Canon (still do) but it has been sitting in my dry cab since I first dwell in m43 (started with GF1). Now I'm using my Panny GX1 almost every week. The colour is not as good as Canon though but it is not a dealbreaker at all. Yes, I knew all the great thing about EM5 (learn a lot from this Forum) but I stick to Panny because simply it allow me to stuff it in my small sling bag wherever I go, and almost all my lenses are Panny. In the long run, I find the m43 system actually cheaper than Canon, lens wise.

But regardless the body you choose, Oly or Panny, it is only part of the equation. The beauty of m43 is all the lenses are interchangeable.

It's advised to use either the body IS or the lens IS and not both at the same time

It is understandable when using Olympus body with Panasonic OIS lens because they are of different manufacture and they don't make the software to communicate with each other.
But now Panasonic will be building IS body and they should make them(body IS and Lens IS) work with each other. If they can't do that, it will be a waste when only one IS can be activated.

Colour is subjective. I used to hv the 1D series from canon. Never like it especially the jpegs. Spent lots of time figuring in photoshops adjusting colors. No choice but to shoot raw..that what the Canon mentioned even in their magazine.
most pro like to control their colors. For me I m just a hobbyist; -)
With oly, jpegs are just lovely. I shoot jpeg 100 % now. Panasonic i only use gf 1, g1 and gh1 before. I will stick to oly for the jpeg. The newer panny bodies should be better.

Am I the only one excited over the announcement today?

Will it be non-IS version of 12-35 f2.8 & 35-100 f2.8 out in the future? Hehe, since gx7 has IBIS...and possible other panny bodies will have IBIS in the future?

Again, effectiveness of image stabilisation, not sure if in-build or in lens is better? Any comparison between ep5/omd 5-axis IS v.s lumix power/ mega ois in lens? That's should be interesting...

No AA filter, tiltable vf and lcd, in built OIS, silent mode, nice design. What's not to like?:)

I am throwing my money at the screen but nothing is coming out. HELP

Black or Silver?

And out of curiosity... If I'm going to Japan in September, do you think I can buy it directly from Japan? I wonder if the pricing will be slightly better...

But happy to preorder from here now if I can!
