Well, hopefully it'll be less than 2x the price. Anyway, you said it yourself, HIS is better (on paper) and we all know L bragging rights don't come cheap.

had thought the tamron 60 f2 macro could be another great alternative for those looking for a new macro lens that's also suitable for portraits. this can't be used on full frame though.

Is it my imagination or is the "Macro 100mm" bigger than normal? Heck it's even bigger than "Canon" :bsmilie: HKG price is always so much better.

I think it is the new design - the TSE 17L and the TSE 24L II has the same font/font size I think.

In 2-3 weeks time, the lens should be widely available in Hong Kong. You should be able to get it from the Mongkok area photo shops like Man Shing, Wing Shing and all the large electronic stores such as Fortress, Citicall, etc... However, at the initial launch, you might have to pay slightly higher price since the supply is not enough to go around.

Given that Hong Kong prices tend to be slightly lower than Singapore, I will expect the lens to cost ~ S$1400 here. Honestly, that is still much lower than what I expected. :heart:

Oooops... shouldn't have said that.... Canon Singapore may decide to increase it beyond what's affordable to mere mortals. :sweatsm:

Photozone, and almost every other review site out there, is practically useless when it comes to macro lens review. Test charts are shot at 'normal' distances, NOT macro distances. I hope you are interested in this lens for its macro capability.

The best tests for macro lenses are those real world samples out there. :bsmilie:
