Thanks for the price info.
The lense seems to be hard to focus sometimes. Maybe Im shaking too much or just my camera. Anyway its a good lense for portrait.
NigelSeah77 said:All right guys, here is the photo comparison first. I'll talk about it in my next post.
Firstly, BOKEH comparisons !
Order of comparison : 50mm is featured first, followed by the 35mm.
Basis of comparison, the settings used for both lenses were EXACTLY the same and i tried to compose the photos are identically as i could hand held.
Naturally since its lenses of DIFFERENT focal lengths, discrepancies were inevitable.
1) Bokeh test. I have concluded the 50mm is generally smoother then a baby's bottom. The 35mm's bokeh is much more "busier" in a sense. BUT still pretty decent.

thanks for the images, will get 50mm, background more blur... will just compensate to step back for wider view.![]()
ZerocoolAstra said:You step back, the focus distance changes. Depth of field also gets deeper
For example, 35mm @ 1.8 on DX cam, focus to 2m, DOF = 0.23m
Switch to 50mm @ 1.8, may have to step back to 3m in order to have same field of view, then DOF becomes 0.25m
:bsmilie: Must be your hands trembling....
this was taken before i sold my 50/1.8D, only to test the sharpest at f/1.8, but not the bokeh. i dun think you would regret getting it.

Set your shutter speed times 2 of your focal lenght to avoid blurry output. Don't worry, it's a fast lens ...Thanks for the price info.

Not too much of an issue in good lighting conditions, but indoors is another matter altogether.Set your shutter speed times 2 of your focal lenght to avoid blurry output. Don't worry, it's a fast lens ...
anybody has both the 50/1.8D and the 50/1.8G and can do some simple side-by-side comparisons of bokeh, etc?
Just SOOC JPGs would be great
Or else I've gotta go get the 50/1.8G for myself and try try... hehehehe![]()
This site has a good comparison of many 50mm lenses -- check it out -- there are lots of bokeh tests at various apertures. Think people have posted this link before:
