New!!! 50mm f1.8 G lens

the 50 1.8G is only $249 on DD Electronics

i rather pay slightly more for a local set, considering that the local set costs like only 50+ more at most

30 more, if you know where to look. ;)

But seriously, how problematic can this lens be? It is a simple $250 lens. If shop warranty also, they will just give you a new set rather than fix it. But different people different preference. *shrug*

ahyoo.. headache.. should i change anot lei! from D to G.. around $130top +/- if from DD 100 only x.x

Sigma 50mm 1.4 HSM, remember to bring your focus chart when you buy :P

When I got mine it was funny. Because of the Florescent lighting, I get weird colors and WB... but focus seems off. After I did a +10 on the AF fine tune, focus is spot on. However when I bring it home in good light, I found the focus to be off. So I adjusted AF fine tune again, and surprise surprise, the final AF fine tune setting is zero...

So it is probably not the lens, but me that screwed up at the shop when testing.

LOL.

Doesn't Nikon lens come with international warranty unlike their camera bodies?

Don't count on the 'international' warranty. If you have a lens that doesn't work properly, they tell you they will calibrate your camera which you probably wouldn't allow them to. They cook up tons of excuses not to service or exchange the product. Nikon's warranty is as good as nil, so get a lens you are very sure that focuses properly.

If that's the case, there's no diff getting a local copy of nikon....
We are also offered 1yr international warranty. There's pretty strict rules that qualifies for nikon warranty but it's not hard to get when u buy them from overseas.

1. Warranty with serial matches the actual lens.
2. Receipt with date of purchase.
3. Rubber stamped of company logo if it's not imprinted on receipt.

I think these above are the 3 criteria. I rem there's a nikon rep in CS? Could he confirm this?

Nevermind the criteria.

Mine met all the criteria but no go either.

I honestly suspect that Singapore's NSC is not very competent in repairing. They seemed prepared with a standard set of answers to counter your bid to try to get your bad lens fixed. I am surprised there isn't a bad review on NSC in this forum.

I thought my experience was a remote one until I talked to a colleague using Canon recently. He said he jumped ship because of the bad aftersales of Nikon - tried to get his digicam's shutter repaired but was given tons of excuses before being quoted with $250. He could have bought a brand new one for another few tens! He found a shop which repaired his shutter for just $95 - all original.

To be fair, I've heard some pretty complimentary feedback about Nikon Service Centre as well.
Maybe you can take up your case with a feedback email to Nikon Service Centre directly.
I think they would consider your feedback seriously if you provide thorough and accurate information.

i google a bit. it say this f1.8f cannot be reverse and use as a 'poor man' micro len?
