I see.
Thanks for the info.
Wandering why it must be more expensive in Sgp when on US selling at RRP USD 219?

Currency rates are different.

Bottom line- we are talking about different markets here. One extremely huge and the other, tiny Red Dot (not the Leica dot).

Just came home with the 50mm 1.8G. But my wife is having fun using my D7000 that I cannot test the lens. Boohooooo

Thats pity bro

Ooh that's cool! How much did you pay for it?

Keeping my fingers crossed- hope this lens is sharp enough wide open. Used to have a 1.4G but quite soft wide open (maybe it's just my copy). But seriously- both are made in PRC but price difference is too much. This makes the 1.8 a no brainer unless you absolutely, die die must have the 1.4. Also, I'm using the 1.8 as a replacement for my 85mm f1.4G on the D7000- so I can still use it as a 75mm portrait lens. My 85mm will have to wait for the D800...( long wait )

Hey! That's good to know- if it is really sharper than 1.8D, it's good enough for me.

If you have the Version D, don't get the G. Differences ain't that much. Just got my hands on it and surprisingly it feels quite solid.

The focus ring is moderately smooth and at f1.8 wide, it's sharper and smoother bokeh than the version D. (own opinion) However, I don't see the point in spending another $300 for the same lens which only has slight differences. Unless you have a non AF motor in your body, it's a different story.

Conclusion: very light weight, feels solid but still it's plastic. AF speed is much faster. Sharper and smoother bokeh.

I laughed for awhile. But when i think further, it feels pretty sad that there are people begging money in singapore. The Cat looks pretty fake
