lighting skills is something that can be picked up along the way with experience and lots of practice. BUT, the ability to see things and determine 'what is nice,beautiful,pleasing' is something that cannot be taught. it has to come from your own development.
e.g. for a less technical proficient beginner..he/she can spend hours just trying to get the lighting right, but for someone who has no aesthetic sense whatsover, he can spend days shooting the same thing and it still wouldn't turn out nice.
