need views for buying accessories from DD ELECTRONICS?

Wah, DDE increased the pricing so much.. GodDmn!

I wanted to buy the 17-55mm, last week DDE price is only $1310, now it is $1399 !!!! On the other hand, 24-105 last week DDE price is $1,348, now it is $1599++ WTF!

So, my advice is better you guys go buy from KL (if u guys got a chance to go there) bcos all lenses+body prices drop so much and you get Canon Malaysia warranty.

17-55mm is now selling only RM3,300 = $1375 (even lower than DDE after conversion) after the RRP price reduction from Canon Malaysia. Previously, it was selling at RM3,800

Anyhow, I will be buying at KL (since I am a Malaysian and go back KL often).

BTW, I did bought my 430EXII from DDE in Jan2011 at $350 only... now they are selling at a crazy price of $509 ! LOL

Artworkfoto selling the 17-55 at $1300

Artworkfoto selling the 17-55 at $1300

Yup thx, it is still selling $1300.
But I would rather fork-out another $75 bucks to get the local Malaysia set warrantied by Canon Malaysia rather than by Artworkfoto since Canon reduced the RRP for Malaysia.
I wonder did Canon SG reduced its RRP for lenses and body prices in SG??? as I heard from my fren the reason why Canon is reducing its RRP is to counter the grey sets markets.
Hope this happen in SG as well.

For people who travels to Malaysia often, this news is like a god-send!! Now Malaysia price is matching close to HK liao. And it is just a short drive away  I think I will make a trip in sometime next week :)

Anyway I think a lot of OT here already. Should open a new thread for discussion on this latest "shocking news" in Malaysia. Let this thread continue on DDE "Legacy" :bsmilie:

85L was 2689 last march1 when i bought it, its 3199 now. WTF!!!

may be their initial very low prices was to catch our attention. then increase increase price when they're popular already...

As I am regular visitor to DDE due to my wifey working nearby, I caught the "wind" of prices increasing soon. So I took the plunge n ordered quite a number of stuff before the price hike. Prices all went up! 7D price went up from 1912 to 2199!

So u heard it from them(DDE staffs)?? What is the reason for the price hike then?

The boss is expecting a serious lack of stuff available due to the recent events in Japan.

They gona loose business these way if the rest of the regular shop selling local set stay about the same. The boss is gonna find himself lacking customer due to the event in Japan instead...LOL!

So it's not on solid basis that the price is raised?

I know the Canon factory that was affected is making printers and scanners, not cameras and lenses.

The recent price hike at DDE is really a shocked for the grey market..
Some prices I compared with AD are..
50mm f1.4 sgd669(DDE),sgd560(ms color)
70-200mm f2.8 sgd1829(DDE),sgd1900+(ms color)
70-200mm MK2 sgd3499(DDE),sgd3320(John 3:16)

Make your own decision..

so if every thing goes back to normal, their prices would go back to normal as well?...

*and the boss is taking advantage of the situation even though he bought the items before the earthquake. correct me if my speculation is wrong*

I guess from the more business pt of view, they are anticipating a slow down in production thus making stock limited. Perhaps plants that is supplying them the internal stuff needed for lens/body might be affected by the recent event.

More like speculation. I understand from my friend thou that Nikon battery selling price is slightly higher than before.

This is surely good news. Time to BBB!

prices went up. still good new??? :dunno:

or good news for sellers who were run over by DDE's low prices before. now, they can sell for their asking price. bad news for most of us...

I will try to find out more when I drop by today.

just for short term gains, DD has just shot itself in the foot by increasing price. They took quite a while to earn some credibility in offering grey items with attractive prices.
A pity for them.
