Need Experienced Nikon photographers opinion - D7k or D300s

I have used the Nikon D300s extensively and currently use the D7000. Both are very adequate, and if I had to get one now, I would consider getting 2nd hand, since both dSLR are going at a steal in the 2nd hand market.

I currently favor the D7000 - other than the lower build quality and only 39 AF-points vs. 51 AF-points of the D300s, the D7000 is able to match most of the D300s capabilities.

Get the D7k body and a prime lens, + a macro lens if within your budget to suit your needs.

i have the 50mm, now considering of a 28mm

I used to use the D300 but now I replaced it with the D7000. Both are great cams and only think I missed on the D300 is the bracketing and slightly faster focusing. Use a good lens, and you can always make good pictures with either of these two. Also now I use the D7000 as my backup videocam.

it is better to DO IT YOURSELF, please don't expect others to cut and paste the thread links for you.

Mod, learn to chill. The problem is after using it i can't find what he have said. He claimed that there is alot of <$1000 & valid warranty which is NOT true and hence the question. Try it if you don't believe before making a big fuss.

Thanks

I think Catchlights is always chilled. And he never makes a big fuss. So better watch your words, be more polite and show some respect to the mods. Warning served.

what a joke. you call that chill with CAPS?!? I don't even know what wrong did i committed. But its ok. I don't think i m wrong and have nothing to watch for my words. if the mods cant learn to read and start jumping conclusions, i shall rest my case. Do whatever you deemed fit.

You could have chosen your words more carefully and not have that attitude. Don't test the patience of the mods here. Infraction Served.

kaungkin is trying to help TS,
"a lots", is very subjective, everyone have different perception on the meaning of "a lot of D7k are being sold at below $1k at BnS section and some are still under warranty"

you jump in and take his words,

and now you can't find what you want, so what you want others to help you?

Catchlights, Gribber has already been deregistered after some of the mods talked about it.

don't worry, no problem at all.

we are all here to learn and share, and sometime we do make some errors here and there,

as long we are not misleading others intentionally, I don't see it as a problem.

just be gracious when someone pointed out our mistakes, don't take it too personally. :)

hey guys,

didn't mean to stir up a "fight" man!

Really thankful to those great words of wisdom and unmeasurable experience guru to help me with my decision!

Appreciated much!!! Really!

Well,
Nikon D7k will be a big step up to my current Sony NEX-5. Shall expect more on my next camera!

Cheers!

Do also note that NEX-5 is also a APS-C sensor like a Nikon D7k. What D7k gives you is a body that is much more comfortable to hold, as well as a lot of direct access controls and features that speed up your shooting. IQ wise, you probably will not see too much of a jump. If you are really looking for a big jump up in IQ, you should also consider the D600.

wow , really ?! I didn't expect that. Because I really do experience poor choices of lens and poor interface on the nex-5 ( first gen ). Hmm... D600 really seems off my budget :/ hahaha , I'll consider man!
Thanks for the heads up!
