The way you refer to your stuff as darling just break a smile on my face.

Btw guys/ladies, is it okie to place batt in the dry cabinet too? I put in the body, lenses, batt grip and CF card in the dry cabinet. But all batts I left it on top of the dry cabinet...

Yes its ok to place your batts in the dry cabinet. But do check on them occasionally if you intend to leave them in the Dry Cabinet for a prolonged period of time (more than 1 month).

Just ordered my Digi Cabi AD060 for $167. Expensive?

I think $167 is about the right price. I got my HD-80 for about the same price on a promotional offer. Check out the Digihub website for prices.

Cheers

Kelvin

thanks for the reply, another question is, is it okie to leave the batt in as fully charged or fully discharged?

Keep battery on Dry cab is something like keep the battery in low humidity country/place.

Because of their low humidity, do you think all the battery in those low humidity country will damage?

Arto.

Thanks for highlighting to me. I was wondering batt mechanism might be working in the form of chemical reaction, dropping the humidity might cause the chemical to "dry up". Sorry I have no logic in thinking that way. Anyway, it is nice to know I can put everything in. :)

hmm is it alright to buy second hand dry cabis?

i mean what are the things to look out for when you buy second hand cabis

As long as it works, should be no problem. The new one have 5 years warranty (Digi-cabi brand). Asked the first hand for the receipt when he brought that dry cab.

Check the door's seal. Open the door for about 1 minutes, close the door. While in power (If there are RED LED and GREEN LED, it should turn ON). Watch the humidity indicator (analog or digital). The humidity should decrease to low level. Depending on knob or dry cab series, it might need more than 10 minutes to see the effect. It could take hours or days for humidity to stabilize at low humidity (recommended by manufacturer is 40-50% for photography gears).

Arto.

So if i set it to 45% should be ok rite?

yeah.. mine's on 45% all the time.. so far so good

My AD-60 just arrived. Just a question. How do u know where to turn the dial where it will sit at 45% constant? Cos the dial only indicates "L, M and H". What's more, each segment have a wide area so where do i turn to put it at 45%?

Can I ask do we remove the lens/camera cover when we put the camera and lens inside the cabinet???

Neither of the conditions u mentioned.... :)

FYI, Tangs having promo on some dri-cabs. IMO, you should get the largest one that you can afford (within limits, of course!). There will SURELY be other stuff you can put in there. Your film archives, tapes, etc. My 60L ran outta space, so am letting my wife put her handbags, etc in there. Got myself a 110L (correction, not 90L) @ $299.

Bot a 100L Digi-Cabi for $209 with analog hygrometer 3 days ago....
Free wave foam, blue EVA mats for all trays n a cleaning kit set...

So any solution to my post in #69?

1)Set to M, close door.
2)let it stabilise for 3-4hrs
3)chk reading, if < ur req humidity(45%), turn to H(only do fine tuning!!)
................... if > ur req humidity(45%), turn to L(only do fine tuning!!)
4)repeat step (2) & (3) untill u get ur 45%...

Hope this helps... :)

Wah that's going to take some time, somemore i'm going to sleep soon too. Now the dial is at the M range but towards the L side. Been turning it on since 9+ and now still around 72%.

Sell the AD, buy a DHC unit, input 45% on the display and go have a beer !!!

(sorry - couldn't help myself)

Haha u sponsor lah. I just got my AD-60 yesterday and i'm happy with it. Until now the dehumidifying unit's red light is still on and currently at 58%.

The non-pro dry cab need you to adjust the power knob by trial and error until it stabilize on your desire %RH.

Different dry cab may have different setting. My setting for knob is around 9o'clock. The RED LED is turn on, and the GREEN LED is dimmed. From environment humidity (~80%RH), it take around 1-2 days to stabilize. Check, if your knob fully turn to left, the GREEN LED will off. Fully turn to right, the GREEN LED will on. Set GREEN LED to dimmed.
