Do a search in buy sell, many ppl selling dry boxes about 20.

if not jus get an airtight box with silica gel..

looks like i got a lot to learn,

btw, anybody knows where is the nearest place around the east that I can get a vacumm box? i need it urgently, else will be putting my D40 inside the bag, kinda dangerous.

Do you mean dry-cabinet? You can look around Funan and Cathay Photo. IMHO Cathay's stuff is a little more expensive (largely based on whether they like your face. If your face looks like it says "I've got lots of money and credit cards", then they'll do you a good one).

John 3:16 has good service; they sell this brand called DigiCabi that's quite commonly used, and quite simple to use too.

Can check out Alan Photo as well. My two cents.

if you need to BBB

get yourself a tripod or flash

the d40's a fun cam. the kit lens itself is surprisingly good. i tested it for sharpness by taking photos of brick walls n stuff.. and is quite pleased by the quality of it.

did some random snaps when i'm on the road as well, and the camera responded well. i've some pics on my photobucket..will post them later for your opinion on the lens quality i suppose.

dont rush into a lens upgrade yet, perhaps later on when you are more experienced and start to realize what equipment upgrade you need, i.e. needing a f1.x lense for brighter pictures indoors, or some mega zoom on some distant object etc.. thats when money will be better spent.

i was super super tempted to get a 18-200 when i first got my d40, the lens was abt 750usd but perhaps i might wait a while more.. been hearing lots of stuff abt the lens creep etc

No. I don't go there. John 3:16 and Alan Photo are both on the 5th floor of Funan IT Mall. I suggest checking John first. Alan may be abit on the steep side.

Scenery and autograph sessions require very different kinds of photography, in case you haven't realised.

Scenery photography generally revolves around wide angles/tele lenses
For autograph sessions, depending on where you are, different focal lengths will come into play.

As for me, I take photos of small fishes and general photography. Hence the lens I am having now is sufficient. It's the skill that I need to improve at the moment.

Wah... 17-55 wor =)

How's the 17-55 lens?

If you can, get the 18-135mm lens of the D80. It can replace the 18-55mm kit lens.

Gives you more flexibility.

That's what I'm using now. The 18-135 rocks as a walkabout lens, esepcially when u cover events =)

I guess the next step up for me will be 18-200VR

i'd say just go and buy a good guide book.

HWM's Photoguide is quite comprehensive and excellent for beginners. otherwise go buy a magazine or two and learn the basics. fun to read also. heheh.
