Natalie (first studio shoot by RFSG)

Bad news...

All my precious ROLLEIFLEX shots all turn out BLANK....:flush:

I would like to share my lesson learned after the studio shoot, as most of us RF users don't like to shoot with flash. Especially when using old vintage camera, so that they do not repeat the same mistake:

Always know your camera flash synchronization speed when doing studio shoot, especially so when using focal plane shutter (Leica M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M6TTL & MP flash synchronization speed is 1/45 sec or lower whereas M7, M8 & M9 is 1/180 sec or lower)

For leaf shutter camera, you can use all available speed (most camera 1/500 sec max), however, for camera with M (bulb symbol, flash bulb) or X (lightning symbol, electronic flash) flash synchronization especially using old vintage camera...
Always switch to X (lighting symbol) when using electronic flash...if set to M (flash bulb), the shutter will delay open and the shutter will lag behind flash and you will not get any exposure...:mad2:

Cheers

Thomas, thanks for the information...
It is a pity that we can't see some Rolleiflex shots:(

WAH really sorry to hear....would have been nice to see how the Rolleiflex performed in studio setting....:(

Yeah Thomas, sorry to hear that too bro.....

Another issue when shooting studio light with MP...remember to check the speed dial setting that you did not accidentally change the speed above 1/45 sec...your basic RF manual instinct will tend to meter using the camera and may accidentally change the speed setting unaware ... remember you are not using the camera meter but studio light ... otherwise this will be the result ...

Some shots from the MP, TX400...poor development using Tmax developer...because feeling sad after getting BLANK from my 120 films...Natalie feels it too...

Sorry to hear about the Rolleiflex mishap Thomas. On the other hand, looks like mission accomplished in poisoning another poor soul to the MF world ;)

yeah I had the same problem, not being careful about the synch speed.

You've made a great mistake taking photos of Thomas's gear... His gears are so infectious that once the poison hits you, there is no turning back.

People around him are good testimony...

Most of his classic gears are so mint that you would suspect that they were just rolled out from the factory yesterday...

Thank you, Meven...you have been shooting alone? Do SMS us if you need some shooting companies...:D

Ok then, how about this week end? I need to test the new toy that arrived yesterday!...;)
