the tricycle and tribike(is dis what it's called?) is taken with Shutter Priority..its in Vietnam..
wide angle lens and format have got are not really related... but if you use LX1/2 to shoot in 4:3 or 3:2 you might not get the full wideness of 28mm since they are actaully cropped from the original 16:9 that give 28mm view.anyone knows if the wide angle lens is for 16:9 shots only?
Can you take wide angle pictures with 4:3 or 3:2?

I believe canon native format is 4:3 like many other PnS... so if you are shooting at 3:2 with 850IS, you probably get slightly lesser than 28mm as well. same reason as lx2, but you will definitely get slightly wider view than lx2 as the crop is lesser.so the 28mm lens is referring to the 16:9 mode?
co comparing this to the Canon Ixus 850is which also has a 28mm lens but no 16:9 mode, the Canon is able to shoot at wide angle and develop photos at 3:2 format?

but again i find the real selling point of lx2 is basically the special native 16:9 format, if you not gonna use it, probably the canon will be better unless you need manual features from the LX.
about that... but you can always set it to 3:2 tho you will probably end up with a "30mm" or so view...thanks..
i am actually looking for a camera with wide angle that will enable me to print photos at standard sizes (4R, 5R etc)
With the LX 2, i would have to print at special sizes (8.5" x 4.5") right?
