Hi Guys,

Please welcome me. I'm a newbie in photography..

Btw, I've been reading this forum and finally decided to get this new toy...
I bought my S5 about 3 days ago at $616 (+2GB & Case) in HN.

I'm eager to start shooting this weekend. Btw, can I use a Sanyo NIMH 2700 in my cam?

Also, if i buy the lens adapter do I need to quickly buy a lens? Sorry for asking..just want to be clear on this to check my budget..

Thanks :)

welcome to S5 family be sure to start posting pics at the S1/S2/S3/S5 photo thread. bout the battery most likely use any.

Any rechargeable battery is ok. However, I think the "Sanyo Enelope" or the "GP recyko" are good choices, as they can retain the power longer that those nimh type, though the total number of shots of each charge may be similar.

I would advise you to get the adapter, and fix a filter to it to protect the lens of the camera. There are already many discussions here about the adapter. Take a Look here:http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/search.php?searchid=5761130&pp=25&page=3

I got myself the adapter and wide conversion lens and it's gd for general shooting. Depending on what u need, geting the conversion lenses is up to u.

what is the size of the adapter - 52mm, 58mm or others? I have some lens from my previous old G2 setup which is 52mm (IIRC), so hopefully still can use them for the new cam if possible. And how much is the adaptor?

BTW, can lensmate's S5IS adaptor be bought here? Or is there a similar alternative?

Thanks. :)

I bought mine all original. It's 58mm diameter and the set comes with a screw-in hood. But i also bought the wide-conversion lens. Adapter n hood set is $48 whereas the lens is $180. But of cos u must remove the hood before mounting the lens.

Lensmates are only available online at lensmateonline.com

I bought the 52mm and 58mm adapters from them and still have the 52mm with me whereas I have sold off my 58mm nad the Raynox DCR6600PRO wide angle lens. Really good lens that.

Thanks for the welcome S5 family! ;)
