hopefully not China... most of the cams that get off the shelf got that awful MIC proudly stick there. sadly, it leaves us with fewer options when we buy cams. unless u wanna compromise and surpport the communist and leave all those billions of people under no freedom at ALL!

Mine definitely is and so are all my other Canon equipment. I don't settle anything for less than Made in Japan though i heard got some S5s are made in China.

Until someone confirms that he saw a Made in China S5, I seriously doubt there are any. But it is possible that some or many of the parts are from China.

U bought your S5 at the full price? U should've gone somewhere else which is cheaper. I got mine a few mths ago just before the GST rise, at $710.

i bought at 693(incl. of GST) before GST hike... :lovegrin:

when i wan to buy 2-3 weeks ago, AP quoted me 705 nett but only with the rechargeable batt pack...finally I got from J316 @ 715 nett with 2GB card/rechargeable batt pack/digital kit bag...hurhurhur...

wah heng mine MIJ. now that u mention, i didn't check when i bought mine.

btw, wad's wrong with the lady boss. haha. thought she quite nice. i got my camera through her.

I got my S5 end of Aug for S$749 inc gst from harvey norman after some bargaining. Comes with standard canon bundle including 1x lexar 2gb sd card, 4x rechargeable batt and 1x battery charger. The sales guy also threw in additional stuffs including 1x kingston 2gb sd card, 1x sd card reader, 1x canon cleaning kit & bag, 1x large tripod and 1x hoya uv filter.

Those looking for just the camera with canon bundles only (exc bundle from retailer), i think one of the best offers is from alan photo. I usually buy stuffs from this guy called how kim at the sim lim sq outlet, really helpful and most importantly, will not slaughter you even if you knew totally nothing about cameras.

I've no problems with any vignetting on the tele end of my S5 IS. However if u use the wide conversion lens and zoom to tele end, purple fringing is more evident.

When you use the wide converter with built-in flash, do you see a shadow on the pic? I encountered this problem and am considering getting an external flash, something not too costly, maybe a speedlite 200ex. Any recommendations? :think:
