i dun have a speedlite but i tried on my S5 before.

I've yet to use my 580EX on my S5 but can't bear to cos hotshoe still in nice, clean black colour. ;p

if im not wrong, S5 is under able to fully ultilize the better speedlites auto focus functions and stuff. not very sure

erm. the shutter, on ur camera lens. which opens n closes to allow light to enter the camera, and onto the sensor to capture the image.
shutter count is how many times the shutter opened n closed le.

Bro i think wat he meant is that there is no physical shutter in the S5IS like a DSLR but instead a electronic control one.....so there should be no shutter counts for the S5.......

True, but even the camera in your handphone also have an electronic shutter similar to the S5. Over time this will wear out in continuous use.

wow talk like money grows on the tree- which that's so! anyway buy S5 cause it is the best camera on neutral ground between compact and the all time photogrphers dream- dSLR.

just join the S5 club on last Friday. After considering pana FZ 18, olyp 550 su, Fuji S8000FD, still go back to canon and get S5, S5 may not have the extra zoom (12X vs 18X), but win by the real image stabilizer , flip out LCd and overall better quality. Currently still exploring this good camera.

No. I got mine as a spare for certain occassions use cos not all the time it's convenient to bring yr DSLR.

Other reasons are cos it has a hotshoe (finally), 12X zoom, IS, USM and a crisp vari-angle LCD. Last but not least.....it's a Canon!! :thumbsup:

I tried the 420 on my S5, and it looked a little funny. Flash is taller than the camera. A bit top heavy. 580 should be worse. By the way, I checked the 430 at Alan Photo today. $465.
