i guessed that you had been using iso 800 or 1600 which will turn out quite grainy.
probably using a lower iso will help, but this will decrease your shutter speed and might cause you blurry pictures instead. Compacts like S5 are not made to handle lowlight situations without flash, unless you are doing scenery where you will be using a tripod.

in the center of the photo, where the blue line is, the building looks straight,
but as it goes towards the sides, the buildings seem to be leaning
i dunno whether is it normal due to the angle.
but it seems serious n bothers me
Though I agree the 5IS zoom lens with such a wide zoom range had distortion, the above example may be due to an optical effect that affects all ordinary lenses on ordinary cameras.
When you tilt the camera upwards to take the shot, this results in converging verticals. This is an optical law of physics. Not because the lens is lousy.
That is why people spend a bomb on tilt / shift lenses or view cameras.
I went on a photo shoot with a friend who took the same shot from about the same viewpoint. But he was using a Linhof high end model view camera with tilt/shift movements in the camera. No distortion.
You will note that the UOB tower was almost smack in the centre of your photo. If it was on the outer left or right edge, it too will be distorted.
Same optical laws apply when you use a fisheye lens and take a photo of the horizon. If the horizon is dead centre in your photo frame, it may appear as a straight line. Off centre it will be curved.

any advantages getting it if not planning to get any conversion lenses yet?
he original adapter comes with a screw-in hood as a set. Other than allowing u to mount a conversion lens using the adapter, it also allows u to mount a filter to protect the lens.

G series are more expensive than S series. But i think the functions of S5 IS beats the G7 overall.
G9 is better in terms or RAW and a 3-inch LCD. Other than that the S5 is on par or better.
Mild barrel distortion isn't too bad if it's symmetrical; when it's asymmetrical, like this, it can get seriously disorienting. Several photos where I knew I had aimed dead-on had a perspective as if I'd shot from the side. Here, the S5 IS's lens squeezes the left side vertically, though the right side is straight. (Shot at 36mm-equivalent; guidelines overlaid in Photoshop.)

May I know wat is a good fast memory card for S5? wat is the price for a 4g? wat is the diff betwn CF and SD? SHDC? Where can I buy good rechargable battery with good price? does high mAh battery kill the camera say use 2700mAh...Where can I get good charger? I hope I can get all the thingy from Sg...Where can I buy a pouch for the S5... Wat shd I looking at for my S5 to play ard with it during the Comex?? Wat is worth buying during the show (I know this one real noob..but I really dun noe wat shd I look at..too many thingy..make me headache)..:sweatsm:

buy at COMEX not necessarily cheaper leh. the last time i went down to check out the S3IS at the dec06 fair (many months after release) and it was still selling at the RRP! the camera shops at funan/simlim can sell you cheaper
I didn't buy a pouch for my S5. The free camera kit bag provided is just about the right size for the camera.
As for the other questions, I dunno how to answer. Must wait for the pros. haha.
Comex one might not be cheaper.
they might also not come w/ the supposed "canon offer package" which consist of a 2GB SDcard, camera kit bag (mini tripod + some cleaning stuff + e bag), 2300NiMh Rechargable batt X4
4Gb card the last time i rmb was $45? or was it $60? aiyah, but ain't too expensive.
CF card bigger n harder den SD, n of course faster
rechargable batteries, can just go about anywhere, the prices differ at most a few dollars.
i dun think a high mAh battery would kill (not v. sure about dis), but the camera's battery life if u use EVF is quite good. almost 350 to 400 shots?

Pouch, u can either use the one they give (hopefully), it fits perfectly. but if u are gonna buy more accessories for it, den gotta buy some other bag like lowrepro or crumpler? ur choice.
wad u should be looking for, i dunno. it's ur preference. take the opportunity to feel it n see whether it's really the camera u wanna be holding.
