My picture is on newspaper.

maybe that law needs to be changed

would one media company use the image belonging to another media company?

I'd think not

sorry to disappoint the TS, and as others have pointed out in other ways, Singapore's Copyright Act (Chapter 63) Section 37 Fair dealing for purpose of reporting current events clearly supports ST's use of the TS's image for reporting current events purposes...

on the reverse side, ST should not be able to claim that the TS has infringed it's copyright of the article by representing that at the start of this thread ;)

unfortunate but true, the best way to protect your image is to watermark (not foolproof), embed copyright info in exif (can easily be removed), post as small an image as possible (a thin line to thread), and maybe to save it in as low quality a compression as you can tolerate (also a thin line)...

What current events covers?
Does paparazzi news and celebrity news consider current events?

TS said he posted it on facebook only.

that compression is like, way sick, i guess the demand for IQ in newspapers isn't really that high. :bsmilie:
make it the size like that of your pretty cat thumbnail... but with much higher compression and half covered by a watermark... then convert it into blue monochrome... YMMV :)

ah, but ST is an upstanding publication company that covers select happenings for the benefit of its decerning readers... :)

Photo credit was given, basically I think...no case.
Sad and sorrowful incident, suppose these theft cases happens all this time in the cyber world.

Haiz..just too bad. Even for today Straits Times the graffiti-painted MRT was pulled from you-tube. No credits was given.

Welcome to the FREE World!

like that might as well don't post.....

I think I will let this matter rest ba, just talk to my father friend and he said that there is nothing I can do about it because they did credit me plus the front are quite big also.

it is still unethical of them to use other people's hard work without at least asking permission or giving full credit

maybe in the future the number of press photographers will decrease

it definitely will... in fact last time, they usually have 1 photographer and 1 reporter to cover an event... now (for some press tat i know of) is 1 reporter/photographer... do double job... or they need to source somewhere to get the photo

That really sucks. Credit so what? If I stick the real owner's name on a car means I can drive it away?

I will go down tml and see what they will said.

Legally they shd not do something like this. It discredits the paper. (As if those Chinese tabloids have any credit hor? :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:) However, editorials must credit your works to lessen the liability. Meaning, if they quote the source of the photos, the law probably will just let them off. If no credit is given, then you'll have a stronger case.

Firstly to gain the morale high ground you must show that you disagree and did not give them permission. Alternate dispute resoultion or ADR (small claims tribunal) will just ask SPH to pay a nominal fee to you.

how about we push this change of law through and make them hire more photographers

i also notice that they are now selling their photo

search this database and see if your image is in there
better still if your face is in there

Credits aside.

I believe taking someone else's belongings without permission is considered stealing which is a punishable crime by law! :dunno:
