Congrats bro, u found your answer. The best thing is boss sapport... Better pray it come fast before she change her mind... Heee

I am looking to buy a GX1, OM-D price too steep for me :)

Actually, I think the 4/3 system/setup could actually be more expensive than DSLRs.

This is especially so when you try to get lenses for the 4/3 body.

I noticed that the lenses are all several times more expensive than the DSLR equivalent ones.

Ok I guess you've checked at the wrong places with a sweeping statement.

Just to quote a top of mind, check out the LEICA Summilux 25mm F1.4 and it's equivalent on the M mount. Or the Olympus 45mm. Or the 20mm F1.7.

Depends on wat dslrs and wat lenses. I know Nikon has got dirt cheap 50 mm f2 n below lenses. U hv to decide if they give you wat u need. If it does, then dun bother to change.

Ya. Maybe I checked wrong places.

I'm not looking for f3.5-5.6 ones.

Was looking for primes f2 and below, and 35mm or 50mm equivalent on DSLR. But they're really pricey.

Yes. You're right. The Nikon 50mm prime dirt cheap. Especially the one without motor. But gives good bokeh.

One thing that people dun realize is that glass affects the colours that come out in the photo. You can see it between std, hg and shg. The quality of the light that falls on the sensor is different.

m43 fast lenses are not cheap but they are not more expensive than the DSLR lenses. The PL25mm f1.4 is about $800, so is the Nikon 50mm f1.4. Would you like to elaborate further?

The amazing 45 f1.8 is abt $400?

Nikon 50/1.4 is $800? I thought it's 5xx only ...

I kinda agree, good quality m4/3 lenses are not any cheaper than dSLR lenses, now prices for m4/3 bodies are getting to the level of mid range dSLR cameras. The only thing we save is the size/weight I think.

O-MD + 12/2 + 25/1.4 + 45/1.8 will easily cost more than 3500SGD, this amount of money can easily buy a Pentax K5 + DA15/4 + 50/1.4 + 77/1.8.

A lens, is a lens, is a lens. Whether it is dslr, or mirrorless type, its a lens.

Metal lens more expensive than plastic. More glass more expensive. Better coatings, more expensive. Special technology, more expensive.

Don't forget the main one for m4/3. Miniaturization more expensive...

I was referring to the AFS version. Apologies for not being clearer.

It may be true but i am not interested in getting a pentax k5. In any case, how to compare? We hv a 12 mm f2. Is tat comparable with a 15 mm f4? Unless this 15 mm is the super pancake. :-)

You are not interested doesn't mean it's not good ;)

Size of 12/2: 43x56mm, Weight 130g
Size of 15/4: 63x40mm, Weight 212g

So 15/4 is fatter but shorter, thus more pancake like, comes w/ built in hood too. It's equivelent to 21mm in full frame on K5. 12/2 is equivelent to 24mm in full frame. I guess 15/4 on K5 is a lot wider than 12/2 on m4/3. But price wise 15/4 is only 700 to 800SGD while 12/2 is around 1200sgd.

Both lenses have the same rating at photozone.

I'm not saying that 15/4 is a better lens than 12/2. I'm just saying that m4/3 system isn't any cheaper than APSC system, especially those quality lenses.

Don't wanna start a new thread cos I don't see a point in one.

Just wanna seek advice from the seniors here - is it a good time to buy the EP3? I am still a newbie and couldn't justify buying the OMD EM5. I am looking at getting a brand new set from a shop, but not sure if the price will drop when EM5 comes out?

TIA for any advice :)
