VR POWER! I've got some shot at 70mm focal length at 1/15 and still sharp! :o

So it's money well spent huh? Are you also on roti diet? ;p

Excellent series chisiang, and thanks for sharing :)

You'ver really controlled the exposure well and your photos are tack sharp. Is that the power of your VR lens? I can't handhold at 1/30s without shaking :bsmilie:

Please not forget he also uses flash

Nice pics..

Did you tilt your flash at 45 degrees?
Did you use stofen omnibounce?

Currently out of roti diet already :bsmilie: Money well spent on the VR 70-200. Really no regrets. Used to use a Tamron 80-200 which gave a lot of frustrating moments because the focusing is really slow and the colour reproduction abysmal. keep cursing at the lense.

Now if picture no good cannot curse at lense liao :embrass: Simply no excuse.

I use nikon and have to say that the SB-800 or rather the new SB series is really POWER as well. Don't even need to touch the controls on the flash.

I use 90 deg bounce with the built-in tiny white bounce card. Using Manual shooting mode (more control over background exposure). The rest of the work the flash will calculate the amount of flash you need! Fully Automatic.

The shutter sync speed will determine how bright your background will be. The slow the sync speed, the better the background exposure and thus the better the bokeh reproduction, the faster your sync speed the darker it'll get. And of course you need to adjust your flash (+- 2/3 EV) if you wanna play around with bokeh.

A short cut will be to determine the meter readings from your camera w/o flash first. Then use that reading in manual mode (maybe need to +1 stop if your lense is not fast enough or simply push up the ISO). Next switch on your flash and adjust the power until it do not appear too harsh so you get nice exposure and fill-in flash effect.

Excellent shots. The exposure looks fantastic on my LCD.

Composition wise for the girls shots are as good as can be expected in such situations, and the composition for the car and bike shots are better.

Just wondering if the lighting conditions were better than that at the mid-year Dream Cars Asia exhibition held at Expo?

How does a flash know how much power it should put out? because you point it at 90deg. and the flash doesn't know that you use a bounce card.

Ah! That is the POWER thingy about the SB-800. The flash is qutie intelligent enough to know if you got your wide angle diffuser on or not or wether you've attached your light diffuser (came with flash)! And not only that! It knows if you bounce, and when you zoom the mechanism within the flash head will move accordingly to your focal point! Neat!

the honda gals r most friendly, they kept posing for ppl to take photos

Really nice shots there

I got some shots too today, but none of them came close to any of your shots :( Would be great if I were at your side when you took those pics, so I could learn some tricks from you ;p

I don't find it weird. I always use ISO400 with flash. Will push up to ISO 800 when neccessary. So far so good.

Nice series... And thanks for the tip in using the flash on D70. But I dont own a SB800 yet§ :(

is high iso the norm for flash photog?

That depend flash photography on which area :

- Outdoor under the Sun, it is not (ISO 100 should be enough)
- For indoor that depend how dark it is (usually I use 400).
- For concert with zoom lens and the subject is very far, I use 800

The above is only what I feel is comfortable for me after getting use to my camera and flash. Thus do not represent others photographer's view.

Below is a sample photo I took outdoor at night using 1/200 , ISO 400 ,f2.8 ,200mm , E-TTL flash
