Hmmm.... I've used CP's e-qoute alot of times. They normally only take two days to reply. Of all my qoutes, I have not tried having to wait for more than 5 days. Maybe their system was down when you tried?

Anyway its free, just ask for a qoute. :D There's nothing to lose, its not like you are forced to buy the item or something. At least with that you know the price to work with.

I do find that it is true what was commented: that price varies with different salesperson.

Cheerz!

Maybe it's because you keep asking for quotes then they forget about the others AR!!! :p

No lar.. what he meant was that now you know how much a EF 50mm costs, try to bring down the price, without a quote lar.. :D

thinking of selling my 50mm f/1.8 with a Hoya HMC 52mm UV. Bought it last month I think. lens was kept in the drybox and used only once or twice, so it's as good as new. looking for $130. PM me if interested....

Of course can bargain lah. But not with the qoute! :D As Ozon3 already mentioned: you get the rough idea of the cost of the item then just go down and ask for it and bargain from there. But then usually the qoute's quite close to what you can get, unless you know the people there.

Cheers!

heheheeeeeeeee............ Got a point :D

somebody said that mscolor quote was 125 earlier on was it?

I say one.. But dunno whether got GST or not... and it comes without filter.. So.. hahahaah

question is have you gotten yours today?

What? Are you questioning my integrity? Hey, someone said "somebody said that mscolor quote was 125 earlier on was it?", so i was the one, so i answered, and now you're questioning me?

For what dude. For what.

Hmmm. I don't think its impossible to get it at $125. Anyway as mentioned, it was a verbal qoute when they have no stock so it may not stand also.

Anyway, I did a price check when I wanted to buy the 50mm 1.8 (mentioned this in another thread some time ago and also initially in this thread) that is why I say that there is a possibility of it going at $125 (w/o GST most likely). Let me explain:

Qoutes (before bargaining):
CP:150
TCW:160
MScolour: nvr ask since ozon3 already provided info
AP:135
Konota:140
Some other shops: $150-$160

This was more than a week ago.

When I was at AP, they had the last piece. I almost bought it over for $130 after bargaining. But when I spotted the big piece of hair in the elements, I refused to pay and told them I cannot take it. They were nice enuff to understand.

After I got my lens second hand, I was at konota. I saw the lens on the shelf and enquired (had to compare a new one to see the difference :D ) Was qouted $150. Told them AP selling me at $130. The salesperson got angry and told me that AP always able to sell cost to cost and always spoil market.

After chatting up, he was actually deciding to let me have the lens for $130! so now we know the cost revolves around that value.

Thus, if MS qoutes $125 w/o GST, it will add up to be about $129 w/GST. So its totally possible.

Anyway, its just 5 to 10 dollars more, is it really worth the trouble? IMHO Just stinge one meal, the lens is worth the little extra. See how much you want the lens. I must say I would have paid extra for it then if there was stock - now that I have experience with it.

Hope it clears up some stuff. :D

Eh, unfortunately, i deleted the email.. :( i recieved it like 1-2 weeks ago.. Anyway, it is not plausible for the retailers to sell their stuffs at cost price, because firstly, they don't know you, secondly, they need the profits to survive! I'm not saving it's not possible, just not plausible.. :D

But i still remember getting a quote for 125 leh.. or maybe it's 128.. hahaha :p

Someone e-quote them again ar.. :D

Wha helmet, j00 is very free!! Power! hahaha.. Damn, all this talk makes me wanna get my 50mm... :(

har? j00 is very free? Some language conflict here :D

If you mean I free go check out price? I wasn't but then that time whole singapore no stock and I needed the 50mm. Then at that period, second hand sellers brought the price up to $130, which was insane! SO I went around singapore sourcing and thus got the prices.

Don't think, go get it! Its worth the juice! :D

haha.. There are two interpretations of your question.. Er.. ok, j00 is l33t h4x0r l4ngu4g3, and the other is, i see you got so many quotes from so many shops!! hahaha

Ai ya, i put off buying my 50mm because i was contemplating to get a bag. My bag has a hole, so it's a little bit dangerous, though my camera stuffs won't drop out. So i was wrestling with the idea of getting either the bag or the lens.. Hahahahaa....

:dunno:

WT$#^%! now i'm seriously thinking which planet you're from :D

Ahhh..... I was in the same spot but I went for the lens since I needed it then. Second hand even cheaper. To think of it now I still laughing. :bsmilie:

Juuuuuust only got my bag from CP (an hour ago) The crumpler bag's tiny. The next range is too big. It didn't look so small when I bought it. Now put one long lens, one body, one 50mm, 1 flash, packed like stuffed toy....... Don't think I can add anymore gear in the future.

Point: Choose your baggie properly!

Sorry thread starter for OT-ing :D

it's amazing how much effort is used to save $5-$10 :) I bet the search costs (transport, time, effort, energy etc. ) are way higher than that! Get the lens when you want/need it. The only advantage of saving that $5-$10 is that it gives you happiness that you got a good deal, and maybe 1-2 food court meals? :)

btw: any MO for 50mm /f1.4 ?

anyone knows the price for it?

--
basically want to do without getting a set of 52mm filters.

Just an update: many people responded to my sale of 50mm f/1.8. I'm putting it up for sale:

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?p=468824#post468824

For those who are interested, please PM me your quote. The highest now is $130.

btw, $125 seems a bit low from my experience. MS Color generally quotes $135-140 with GST if I'm not wrong.

Just curious to know why so many people are getting this lens
But why this lens. What purpose would it fulfill ?
Just for portraits ?...
Please enlighten.

Thanx
