MLM tactics

MLM is lame. When I was schooling my China classmate asked me to join his company for a free 'dinner'. He told me his boss wants to recruit part timers, esp students for extra income. This friend on that day was dressed in coat to school btw required by MLM.
As a student I thought hmm why not. Went there, he treat me to a drink at a downstairs coffeeshop. Then came the time his so called 'boss' who was a former convict (!) bashfully avoided eye contact with a low lvled MLM newbie and went on with his chats. Unknown to him, I've been there down that with my family's company, we incorporated TCS/CH U stars to sell it then at that. So I've been there done that at a young age.
I went into a 'room' the so called MLM top liner, another Chinaguy student briefted me, telling me my life is useless, no aim working for companies, I should be my ownboss, join them, he earns 30k a month. Then he pushed the application form to me, and that cost me 150SGD! Then kept bugging me to get their 'magnetic pillow' costing 4.5K, saying I've to be fillial to my parents. If I get it now I would straight jumped to bronze medal or whatever. And that he won't want me to sell and not knowing their products etc. Then recommended me some lame wrist magnet, etc, all in all totalling 9.5k, keep asking me if I can't afford then how much I have in my bank, that I should tell him so he can sell something to me.
What a bunch of phoney! Nonetheless, the company went bust in a few mths. So there, MLM
just wants your $. I know because I've been indirectly involved and witnessed 4 of them.

Few years ago a sec sch classmate ( Mr Z ) wanted me to pass him something. We both live in AMK and he said meet at Lau Pa Sat. I was like WTF meet so far, he said to support Mr X (another classmate) at a "presentation". So there, I passed him my stuff at LPS. Then he said eh, come listen to "presentation", support Mr X. Then at the office he begun to say good things about the products, etc. Finally Mr X shows up and I'm made to listen to it, say what agree to stuff he said, while his uplines grade his presentation. Like when saying about what calcium ion water thingy: "what do u do when u kena food poisoning". Me: "take activated carbon tablets". X: "Walao, help me leh, say drink water". WTF. :sweatsm:

Finally the sleep inducing thing ended after 1 hr. Then Mr Z held me back, say manager wanna meet me. WTH? For 1 bloody hour he held me back, almost literally. Prevent me from getting out of the office. Say what meeting room been booked, if I run away he;'ll be in trouble or what. Finally the "manager" appeared, he's just my age and look unconfident. Chow or Charles or what. I say Chow as in " c c b ". Well finally I saw the "manager" after 1 hour. Fancy keeping a "client" waiting for 1 hour. Some service. Well, I shouted at him and stormed out of the building. Since then I've been anti MLM.

The company prides itself as being able to afford Raffles Place rent only after 5 years in operation, having xxx number of agents, millions in revenue, etc etc. Now? It moved to ulu Eunos. HAHAHAHAHA

Every MLM company trying to recruit will say it's not MLM or pyramid scheme. My dumb friends actually bought it, now they think they'll retire at 21 earning millions passively.

one of my fren joined a MLM located near Plaza Sing. He was new and they made him buy female cosmetics, giving him a reason " u need to try everything in order to know the products well ". See the stupidilty ! :devil:

I remember there is this MLM company who claims that they are in association with the Police cos they are just located next to Geylang Police Station. :think: Most of the Policemen at the station are their staff. I feel like asking them for the list and send it to the Police Division for verification. :bsmilie:

i had a friend who dropped out of poly and went to work in this MLM company. soon after he kept persuading me to join his company. ended up i decided to pacify him and go talk to his boss. when i went there the office was rather dirty and old, nvm. so he started talking to me about the history of the company, and what it has done so far. it claimed it did nation wide wireless for taiwan, and it also had a E-Shop selling goods.

then he started telling me how to earn money and everything, and told me "To Join us, you either sign up as a Bronze Member, or a Gold member. Bronze, you pay 850. Gold, You pay, 1.4k, with a 270 rebate, thats around 1.2k. Then he drew me a graph saying starting out if i join, i have to pay 850(at least), then after i recover back that 850, its all profit.

so after all the talk i declined but told them "i'll consider". My friend then walked me to the mrt station and asked me how it was. I asked my friend how long he worked there and he said 5mths+, and he still kept asking me to join. i said "if i join you will earn right? so join for what?!"

Then i asked him if he joined bronze/gold. he said gold. Then i asked so far how much has he earned, and his reply "Still trying to recover my 1.2k."

zz. 5mths, if i had gotten even a job at macdonalds i can earn more then him, now the company has shifted and that area is filled with youngsters dressed v smartly trying to get more people to join.

i dont think i should disclose the company, but if you guys want, i wont hesitate. HEHE.

yea and the ironic thing is they deny that they're obsessed with making money, instead they try to paraphrase it other way like "no, I'm just working towards making passive income so that I can quit my job and spend more quality time __insert_reason_here__"

in fact, the former co-worker that had me super annoyed at him, went "oh, i must teach you a little bit about business world" -- "business world" actually meant MLM.

Oh, and they never admit it's MLM. They'll call it networking or "referral program" too, and vehemently denounce MLM.

Once this girl from EY was desperately trying on MSN to get me in after I slipped away from the seminar she tricked me to go to. She said she is looking forward to "retiring early", what more stable income, etc.

WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
Please la, basic kindergarten kid logic can tell you a job with basic pay is more stable than something which is purely commission based.

In mlm they always say "start your own biz". And yet they bestow you ranks like "manager". These 2 are contradicting each other. :bsmilie:

Same goes to Insurance when they are recruiting. I was offered a job as an Insurance agent after accompanying a few friends to a seminar. Later I accompanied my friends to hear this talk by this lady on the pretext that she wants to do a test with us to see if we are suitable to start our own business.

It ended up that I am the only one who passed the test which I realised then it was actually a recruitment exercise. I rejected the offer promptly and apologised for not knowing and then left.

Hell followed for the whole month after that. The lady pratically called the house every day and night to scream at anyone that pick up the phone claiming that I wasted her time and company resources to arrange for the interview and all she need is for me to get dress up in the evenings and attend to any client they assign me.

Does sounds dogey.
