hahah.. I never mentioned that Singapore is a demoncratic society.

What reason?? Answer is simple "Greed".:D

:bsmilie:

Bwhahahaha TYPO LAR.. lol tot you trying to pass a scarastic remark.

Ya, Singapore is a demoncratic society.

Scrastic.jpg

It will never and will be a democratic society even it though it tries so hard claiming to be

one.

You mentioned about democracy, you think Singapore is a demoncratic society?

so corruption helps to supplement their income (i.e. bribes, kickbacks, preferential treatment for companies directed by them or their relatives).

Which is why we shall never let this happen in our own backyard!

Com'on people, our ministers have long suffered for how many donkey years for overwork and being underpaid.

Their sacrifice is so great...and i doubt anyone of you can be like them.

Don't be envy like some green-eyed monsters.
Give them your support.

 :sweatsm:

:nono: That's against the Law... :nono:

I know, but all that has to be done is for a bill to be passed and ... TA-DA! Just like magic things impossible become possible. :bsmilie:

Years ago, in an all but forgotten debate, someone said, "Why should we deprive a person of owning two cars if he can afford two cars?" Who's to say that there won't be a remark in the future that goes, "Why should we deprive a person of burning real money if he can afford to burn real money?"

Totally OT? Maybe. The second remark will probably never be made for obvious reasons, but the first was broadcast over television and it says quite a bit about some people's stand on fairness, equality, money and the desire to really solve a problem.

according to CS policies, we shouldn't be discussing about politics, really.

but since you've made such a response, let me point to an article

i guess this thread will be closed sooner or later, you guys have fun :)

is this Catherine Lim the same "Catherine Lim" who wrote books years back?

i remember a story when the "restricted zone" system for CBD was implemented, somebody saw that it was ILLEGAL for the gov't to collect money like that. IIRC, he is a lawyer and knew the law well, so he refused to pay to enter and fought against his summons and refused to pay and brought it up to court. The court ruled in his favour.

It hit the headlines and everyone didn't pay to go into the CBD. The law was then changed and applied retrospective and everyone including the smart lawyer had to pay up.

This is just one example how laws can be changed at a snap of the fingers and nobody can escape it. The banker always wins. :D

we learn from young, never accept gifts, money from people we find suspicious.

sometimes...people do forget. And receive the consequences. Why regret? Start young. Educate them.

:bsmilie:

Off topic for a while, didn't Durai sign his own pay increment letter when he was in NKF?

Tml I go office pass my boss my $ increment letter I typed and signed.

.

Aiyah, what Durai did is no different than some brute force African dictator, do what you want when you're in power. Here things are done a lot differently, with finesse (statistics, news analysis, blah, blah blah). That's why *** can be conferred with Doctorate, whereas some poor sod like Robert Mugabe won't even be conferred with a Masters degree. See the world of difference? Got to hand it to those African dictators, even while pillaging their country dry into their Swiss bank accounts, at least they're upfront about it.

Bro, the kid is smart, she don't want toys and stuff like that. She wants PURE CASH...:bsmilie:
Like Tom Cruise said in the movie: Show me the moneeeey!!!

Call it sour grapes or anything.

I do not support this move to raise Public Service Salary. Yes, they do contribute alot to the society, in building our country, educating our next generation and protecting us from all the evils out there.

So do everyone else. I am questioning why do one really went into public services? Is it for the glory? Honor? Money? or just the passion to help me, a person who has no interest in running for office, no ability to run for office and only can see as far as how to earn money, so I can buy something i want occasionally, has a good meal now and then or even step out of Singapore for a few days?

When I was struggling yesterday to earn that pathetic few dollars, the news of such pay raise kept playing in my head. I smiled at my customers, despite my unhappiness and sadness at how things are. I do things which my subordinates think it's too much of me to ask of them. I, even do their jobs, just so things can run smoothly.

I wonder what has our gov't done for me, just so Singapore can run smoothly.

Do let me catch my breathe, don't let me lag too far back, even if u do not wish for me to catch up. Don't step on my back too often, cause it's already breaking.

Huh, I know of researchers who earn a lot leh. You must be a researcher or something. :bsmilie:

Senior and have experience, not get promoted? Then must examine self for reason! Can't be usual trend is get promoted, and end up you not promoted right. And then again, what's this gotta do with gahment huh. =D

Tuition teacher has limited 24 hours a day. And has limited hourly rate depending on qualifications. Unless of course got really special case scenario like Arab sheik want the teacher to tuition his kid in Arabia and pay the teacher $80K an hour then I bo wei gong.

name your researcher. BTW which kinda research are u talking about?

seriously..... are they FTs? or are they SGporeans? I can pick up many examples of equally qualified SGporeans who earn alot lesser than their FTs. (u wanna know the reason? then i can say, SG society is not at all conducive for research. the wrong training/education to build researchers, just workers maybe.....researchers? oh please.......)

Usual trend is get promoted? WHOEVER told u that this is "USUAL".

Gahment gotta do with DAMN alot of things...even in your private sector, there are thumbs from the Gahment investment branch inside...so don't be so naive.

Hey, were u in some top job or what? so much so that u don't even know the ground fundamentals of work. A tuition teacher may have a "limited" hours and "controlled" charges...which isn't really the case btw... However, he/she doesn't have controlled amount of students:) so don't see them no up.

Its sad that despite the bold messages and drive by gahment to make SG into a conglomerate of excellence in EVERY field, they are not willing to accept reality or fundamental corrections and the masses voice. That applies to salary raise too.

income gap is widening again... dun be suprised to see pple sleeping in MRT stations next few years... we will be like Japan ! their govt is rich but the common citizens are poor and in debts..

Yeah! its sad while we earn groundnuts, others can earn alot of PEANUTS!

to be fair to them, yes the gahment has done quite abit to ensure Singapore's stability and security and economic prowess...

but do these justify that increase after increase? Is this really what we call PUBLIC SERVICE?
other countries are also stable.

Just take a look at Switzerland ... they are alot more stable and secure than SG, they have great economic prowess.... but the last i heard from a few swiss, they are all well paid and are really satisfied with the way their country is run EVEN FOR THE RARE FEW homeless people!

like somebody mentioned...... Salary raise is alot different from CPF raise:) one can be touched in need, one can ALMOST not touch until u're old and DEFINITELY in need! One is COLD hard cash...one is a statistic that only becomes hard cash when u're old and in need.

Talk about inequality ............... haiz :(

Based on the logics and reasonings of the Authorities, it would appear that I would be able to live to see the days when our Ministers are paid $10,000,000 pa ....... but that's also not so much ..... only about 20 peanuts hor.

still flogging the dead horse? aiyah.. seriously there's no end to this debate and there's NOTHING anyone of us here can do about.

since they are so finanically strong now , ask them make more babies to make up the shortage in birthrate loh... the main reason why singaporeans make lesser babies is due to financial insecurity...

do as I say, not as I do

I am just suprised that the thread has not been locked and allowed to carry on till.... now.... Tsk tsk

Step 1
...closing the private sector benchmark to 73 percent, and 88 percent next year with the secound round of increases.

Step 2
...the private sector will take the cue from the civil service and up executive remuneration...

Step 3
...need to close the private sector benchmark...

etc.

This beats soccer as the beautiful game.
